Once upon a time in America...

They hung "niggers." Not just in the South, but all over the land.

Once upon a time in America people were hung because they fell in love with a person of different color.

Once upon a time, women and people of color could not vote.

Today, "queers" or people who don't ascribe to the sexual orientation of the majority are beaten, killed and not allowed their constitutional rights.

We're making progress, people. It's time for a final push to assure equality for all.

It seems to be an American phenom that certain groups find it very important to feel superior to others. They pick a minority that can't defend itself and classify them as damned by god and worthy of disdain, exclusion and expulsion from the populace. This week, it's gays and immigrants.
