OK, so half my city burns to the ground...
And while flipping through the channels last night, what was the commercial headline report on the local Faux affiliate?

Dogs on skateboards.

I shit you not.

Did any of my other fellow So-Cal DUers happen to catch this?

1. It's because "everybody knows" Southern Californians
are godless heathens and are only suffering GAWD's retribution for all them HO-MI-SEX-ALS!

Seriously though, as a native Southern Californian, I can't believe what you guys are going through. Again! First Santa Barbara, then Sylmar, then Yorba Linda then Corona. I don't think most people realize that these locations really are nowhere near each other.

Keep safe, So Cal!

4. Certainly true.
I have lived here my entire life and have never seen anything quite like this.

But seriously when I saw that on the news last night I had a huge :wtf: look on my face. If there was any way I could find a clip of it on Youtube I'd post it here.

5. What sizzles me is zero coverage up here in Northern Cal.
I sure do miss KTLA. The fire in Sylmar seemed especially horrid with that fire marching down the hill. Or so I read in Sunday's San Francisco Chronicle. I had to drive all over just to find a newspaper.

6. Camp Pendleton has had something like 9000 acres burn in the past month
That just sounds crazy to me.

8. Former San Pedro Resident here
I lived there during the heavy rains and the flooding of the Sepulveda flood basin over the 405 and the King Riots.

This is way more serious, and should get a hell of a lot more coverage nationally.

11. Hey, now, the Sepulveda Basin never actually flooded over the 405.
Edited on Mon Nov-17-08 07:29 PM by kestrel91316
It flooded Woodley and Burbank. But wasn't that week of rain that year a sight to behold????

I'm still here. This is going to be a "summer" winter, I think, rather than a more traditionoal "rain" winter.

15. I probably got the Basin name wrong. That was back in '91?
I remember I had to cancel a drive to the central valley because almost all routes north flooded out somewhere. The 405 flooded right before you hit the 5 going north.

I'll never forget the kid who fell in and cameras caught him rushing out of control down the LA river. A river that is usually so dry they love to film car chases.

Sniff, I miss SoCal.

12. Like I said I was flipping through the channels.
Flipping between Family Guy, football, and the fire coverage.
