Good God... watching Arianna Huffington is painful.... |
|
Don't get me wrong, I love her blog, but she has no business hosting a show - especially one as snappy and fast-paced as Rachel Maddow's. SHe is so stiff and her reading of the teleprompter couldn't be more obvious and monotone. She makes John McCain look like Jay Leno.

She doesn't really fit with the fast-paced news show format, but it's a change of pace, and her accent is just faaaaaaabulous dahlink!

Also, her native language is Greek. She is a really brilliant woman and I think she is fine.

Two people, feeling terribly awkward, doing their best to carry on. But I'm interested in what he has to say.
I won't put Arianna down, though. If I was in her shoes, I'd be so nervous I'd be drooling on my knees before the first commercial break. :D

10. I am loving hearing a non-standard English accent for once ! |
|
It's like someone seeing their own race in a sitcom for the first time-- I'm seeing the friends I love with accents of English as a second language-- taking center stage and running the news.
So I am thrilled !! More please !!
The USA is full of noble people learning to speak English as a second language. And friends around the globe who speak different languages are still trying to learn our tongue. We're lucky and let us celebrate English as an international language !!

15. My dad and grandparents were all born in Lithuania... |
|
So I grew up in a family of accents. I like it, too.
When I first moved from New York to Colorado I missed hearing all sorts of different accents. So I'd go shopping in SE Asian grocery stores just to "feel at home" a little.

Lovely.
And her own sharp wit matches Rachel's, so the substitution makes sense that way too.

It is comforting to me. Her delivery, however, was painful. It's a new thing for her to be a host instead of a guest, but imho she did not pass the audition.

I know she has substance. I'm not discounting her political thoughts and ideas. I'm just saying she's not quite ready for prime time. Maybe you should see past your biased love fest and realize not everyone can cross mediums.
