Only half way thru and prescience is amazing.

Moon Over Parador. ( DVD)
Actually quite good Raul Julia, Dreyfuss, comedy masking truths.

After the "Gang of 14" meets and plans nefarious things, they stand for a toast to

"Profits and Christ".

Might be worth a look.

1. spoiler ...
Moon over Parador is a (1988) romantic comedy film, starring Richard Dreyfuss, Raul Julia and Sonia Braga. It is a remake of the 1939 film The Magnificent Fraud and one of a long series of adaptations of The Prisoner of Zenda, followed five years later by Dave.

9. Nice movie.
Mazursky has a deft touch as a director.

Not sure that it resembles anything Bushy, though.

Peter Sellers in "Being There" is one you might consider. Subtle, but effective.

2. That movie was a hoot...
and yes, it pretty much nails much of the greed and corruption that exist in all governments. It also reminded me of the movie "Dave" with Kevin Kline, where he impersonates a corrupt and evil president.

4. Thought you may be referring to 'Brazil' for a second
which actually came out in 1985, but has a few familiar themes: the propaganda ministry is called Information Services (Fox News?), the torturers work for Information Retrieval (Gitmo, Abu Ghraib), and terrorists serve as the government's justification for oppression.

6. I gotta see Brazil again.
Just finished the dvd. ends on a note of hope.

Lots of inside jokes, inside political stuff.

10. You have only seen the theatrical release
See the directors cut, not so much on a note of hope but a better movie.

5. I remember that
Mainly because of Sonia Braga. :)

I also liked how the "president" started a morning exercise show as an excuse to drop the fake weight he was wore while being forced to impersonate the country's leader.

8. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has that beat.

"They Live"
( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096256/ ) --or otherwise know by its working title, "The last quarter-century of US History"... :(
