Republicans oppose national health care because it is supposedly about "choice"
Well, what if one wants to choose to have the same health care that members of Congress get?

Why don't they have that choice?

1. Exactly. Except the real choice is whether the insurance industry
lobbyists give them cash or a trip.

2. The republicans are only about CHOICE when there is money involved
Money for their cronies.

The only reason they oppose any national health care is because the insurance and pharmaceutical companies are making money hand over fist on the current system.

3. As Usual, Rethugs Are Wrong.
Most national health care systems are like Medicare: pick any doctor you want.

4. They CHOOSE to buy plastic trinkets for themselves rather than life for their fellow humans.

Because the faux-burning cross for your front porch is far more important.

5. No, everyone in Congress who opposes national health care, whether
Republican or Democrat, opposes it because they're paid by Big Pharma and the insurance industry, via that form of legalized bribery called "campaign contributions", to oppose it.

6. As Salguine said.
Too many people do believe the lies about "socialized medicine" and absolutely do not understand that one, we are the ONLY industrialized country without universal health care; two, current health care in this country almost always limits your choice of doctors (how many of us have been forced to change physicians when changing health care systems?); three U. S. has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world, worse outcomes for many diseases; four the tales of long lines and lack of care in Canada or elsewhere are either gross exaggerations or often outright lies and so on and so forth.

It's probably the lies about the health care in other countries that's most destructive to our ever getting universal health care here.

7. Socialized medicine is good enough for Tricky Dick Cheney.
I would love his level of health care...wouldn't you?

8. Firstly, universal healthcare doesn't remove "choice." Secondly, the idea
that the vast majority of people have anything resembling a "choice" right NOW is bullshit. Thirdly, I suspect that most people would prefer to have comprehensive, free healthcare without choices than to have no healthcare at all, period.

Their problem isn't about losing their healthcare "choices." Their problem is that they want to be able to CHOOSE not to help pay for some poor person to get healthcare. They don't want their tax dollars going to actually HELP people.

In short, they're greedy, selfish assholes. Period.
