Interesting attitudes at the state dep today .......
I had occasion to visit the diplomatic mother ship today. The obligatory pictures of the three monkeys (Idiot Son, Darth, and Secretary Do-Nothing) remain on the wall in the lobby. But oh how the 'tudes are adjusting.

I'm waitin' for my pass to clear and two people are walking out. One was an employee, the other a guest like me. Employee sorta thumbs toward the portraits. Not at all loudly, but not at a whisper, he says to the guest "Not long till those get changed ..... " The guest smiles and says something about how long a wait it has been.

The people I'm meeting (guests like me) arrive. They wait with me. The guard (a fed protective service guy, not a rent-a-cop) says to everybody and and nobody that he hopes its Hillary. Sez the only two "big people" who ever treated him nicely were Hillary and Colin Powell. Hillary, he sez, spoke to him and then shook his hand. Powell would routinely talk to people he encountered.

Our contact arrives. At the same time, one of the people I'm meeting is saying how happy she was on election night. Our contact joins right in. She had an election night party, it turns out.

In our conference room (a real low rent one, not where big guys go) there were pictures of the Three Amigos. The one of the Rice woman is gone. I point and ask our contact, "Where's Condi?" Our contact sez "Who cares?"

Interesting .....

4. I haven't been downtown enough since the election to know, but I can say this .......
...... ****everywhere**** you turn, people are giddy. We were at a restaurant in Bethesda last night. Very close to DC. Older crowd, mostly locals. The conversations over heard were all pro Obama. The waiter was giddy when he heard us talking about it.

5. i am still selling a zillion buttons.
ok, not really a zillion. the buttons thing doesn't pay any bills. it just makes me feel better. it's art.
but it has been as much as i can keep up with. i did debate parties, results parties. the obama buttons have been on fire.
and they are still selling. maybe even more than before the election.
people ARE giddy.
