US President George W. Bush speaks on aviation congestion and transportation safety at the US Department of Transportation in Washington, DC. Bush might hold a final press conference before leaving the White House on January 20, but then again he might not, his spokeswoman said Tuesday.

1. He is SO drunk.
My guess is that gin is his drink of choice. You can't really smell it on a drunkard's breath. It was F. Scott Fitzgerald's poison of choice for that very reason, though it is obvious that Bush is no F. Scott Fitzgerald.

6. Wasn't LBJ supposed to be drinking quite heavily towards the end of his time at the white house?
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 08:15 PM by galaxy21
Seriously, is it just me or are there a lot of LBJ/Bush comparisions now? (apart from the fact, LBJ actually did do some good things while in office)

7. I've heard that LBJ's drinking bouts were an attempt to self-medicate his conscience...
...whereas Junior lacks a conscience, period.

And yes, LBJ had accomplishments, while Bush has a pile of empties in the corner that the While House staff will have to cart out to the recycle bins in the morning.

8. He does look like hell nowadays
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 08:24 PM by galaxy21
Honestly, I don't think its so much that Bush doesn't have a conscience....he just doesn't think he has done anything wrong. In his mind, he's convinced himself he was this great president, and everyone else is wrong. That might be even scarier.

9. True...let's replace "lack of conscience" with "faulty moral compass."
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 08:29 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
The same held true for Nixon. "He just didn't think he has done anything wrong. In his mind, he's convinced himself he was this great president, and everyone else is wrong."

You'd think we'd have learned by now. Bush is proof that we didn't, Obama's proof that we do eventually acknowledge when "enough is enough."

10. Towards the end of his life, Nixon admitted that he had behaved badly and apologised (sort of)
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 08:37 PM by galaxy21
I mean, Nixon wasn't in complete denial like Bush seems to be.

It actually reminds me of Palin: even now, you think she'd say 'well, obviously I wasn't ready to be vice president, much less president' but she doesn't seem to realize how bad a candidate she was. It's everyone else's fault.
