7. Talk about a team of rivals.
I wonder how many times he'll be killed before the first Senate session?

Last time I looked, Lieberman was still on board.

6. I think there is more to this picture
I think Obama owns Lieberman now and is allowing him to save face publicly, but Lieberman won't be able to do anything independently while he's in the Senate. The look on Dick Durbin's face says it all - "one slip up Joe and you're finished!"

11. Lieberman can do whatever he wants.
The only way to punish him now is to get EVERY Republican in the Senate to agree to go along with it.

Good luck with that.

20. Oh please. This man has been nothing but "slip ups" for years now.
Not a consequence in sight. They just gave him carte blanche. Again.

21. Time will tell
"Not a consequence in sight", but there could be consequences that aren't public. Meanwhile, polls show he has lost a lot of support in his own state. This could be the end of his career in the senate.

9. We are going to USE you
We never expected Lieberman to play nice. Politics isn't about only working with the people who bring you hot cocoa with marshmellows in it. Politics is about policies. It means that sometimes you are going to have to work with some people you can't stand if you have common political ground. That's why McCain can talk shit about Obama one day and meet with him the next. Because today he needs Obama. And while I may not like some of the shit Lieberman did, we can certainly use him. From what I understand, it was a phone call from Obama that convinced the dem leadership to lay off Lieberman. Obama is a wise man. I'm so glad I helped elect him.

13. As much as I would have liked to see them boot Joe
from his Chairmanship they have him backed into a corner. Obama looks the better for NOT being petty and vindictive, and I am confident that that have Joe by his______ and he won't be giving anyone any problems.

14. I agree
Lieberman is a self-serving kiss ass by nature and now he'll be kissing Obama's ass. I'm quite sure there have been some interesting conversations and deals made behind closed doors.
