Domestic enemies
Edited on Wed Nov-19-08 05:24 PM by Cyrano
Refusing to accept the outcome of the election, Limbaugh, Gingrich, Hannity and their ilk continue to spew their deadly bile. Inciting mobs of know-nothings into a state of rabid, murderous hatred is the equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theater. And this makes them true domestic enemies of democracy and freedom.

They are not just trying to stop the agenda and policies that the majority of Americans voted for. They are trying their best to generate violence. And they are doing this because their views cannot prevail in the face of thought and reason.

It's easy to say, "just ignore them." Looking at modern history, it's hard to ignore the type of mindset that led to the deaths of Jack Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy.

Here's the point: Loudmouth wingnuts are a clear and present danger.

So where does freedom of speech end and "yelling fire in a crowded theater" begin?

1. Bush gave Obama powers to deal with the enemy within
The Patriot Act, NSA warrantless wiretapping, declarations of enemy combatants: All powers in Obama's hands now.

Heh heh.

(I'm paraphrasing) "freedom of speech does not extend to yelling fire in a crowded theater."

I don't know the outcome of the case in which he wrote this opinion. Nor do I know if subsequent cases established this principle into law.

Help!! Need some legal scholars in this discussion.

4. Today
I was listening to him during lunch when he said something about having discussions on his show. Example of a discussion on his show, "Rush I just called to say how right you are and what a patriot you are."

Rush, "Blah Blah Blah Me Me Me"

He has never had to defend his views in a real debate, the true mark of a megalomaniac.
