Durbin: Obama is not engaged? (about Detroit)
BASH: Now, several influential Democratic senators told us today that their efforts to get agreement on an auto bailout is actually complicated by bright lines being drawn by their fellow Democrats over on the House side.

And, Wolf, you might ask, what about the most influential Democrat of all right now? And that, of course, is, Barack Obama. Well, his closest ally here on Capitol Hill, Senator Dick Durbin, he told CNN today that he is not engaging, he's not making phone calls, no arm-twisting, nothing.

1. He's President-Elect, not yet President
and he's resigned his senate seat.

His job right now is making the transition to power.

The senate has their own job, they should stop whining and do it.

11. One of those who secretly wished that Obama have lost
so they could continue to nurture their addiction of hating the Clintons.

14. That's Nonsense. I just didn't know we voted for a co-president
Did you hear what President Clinton said today regarding Hillary according to the CBS evening news? "It's her turn!"

2. President-elect Obama is a private citizen now, a FORMER senator, and not yet
Edited on Wed Nov-19-08 07:47 PM by kestrel91316
president. Detroit is Bush's problem for the time being. Obama needs to spend his time on picking a cabinet right now, and NOT running the country that is not yet his to run.

Any failure in dealing with the nation's problems between now and Jan 20 falls squarely on Bush's shoulders.

4. Sounds as if Obama is letting congress find its own way.
Until congress settles on an approach and has the votes to get something done, there's little for Obama to do. He's not president. He can't make Bush back an auto bailout.

Obama is busy with his appointments and staffing.

5. He's not in the Senate any more
and he's not the President yet. the Senate should be doing its goddam job, not blaming Obama because he hasn't been *making* them do its job.

9. Misquoting is not cool. The word "engaged" appears nowhere in the transcript.
