1. Out of curiosity, who would you replace Reid and Pelosi with?
I really wish they would go away.
I would love to see Russ Feingold lead the senate. Not sure who I like in the House. Dennis would be my ideological choice, but I fear there would be an immediate rebellion.

5. Senate, Feingold
House.... I agree on Dennis, but we have the same problem... I think Waxman would be a good leader as well

2. BIG MISTAKE.
Edited on Wed Nov-19-08 10:05 PM by liberalmuse
We don't want to see the fallout from this bad decision. I wish we could inject some balls into congress, or maybe some ovaries. What a spineless, cowardly bunch.

I've been reading Krugman for many years. The man is a prophet. He called this shit in 2003--Actually, he was warning us in the '90's. That Nobel Prize was long overdue.

6. and how is this different from the last 8 years. They voted for the IWR
they voted for the Patriot Act, they voted for the bankrupcy bill

Nothing that this Congress has done has demonstrated courage, or simply doing what is right

Thank goodness that Obama won, becuase I have no doubt that if mccain won, Congress would sell us down the river as they have done previously

8. I'm not sure they still will not
to be honest...

The little hope I afforded myself after the election is gone, quite brutally honest, and I feel the cynicism coming back

11. Understand. It's not 'cowardice'. THEY ARE BOUGHT AND PAID FOR.
Reid, Pelosi, Waxman, Schumer..... most of the whole LOT.

The BIGGEST favor that we, as citizens can do, for THEM and FOR OURSELVES, is to REMOVE THEM FROM THEIR POSITIIONS OF POWER AND REMOVE THEM from all of those "evil/unsavory ties that bind them".

REALLY. That would be a great favor to them/us all!

7. Ok... I get it, Pelosi, Reid and spineless
does that work?

:-)

I hate to say this, but when the history of this is finally written, they will get quite a bit of the blame, and rightly so

Profile in Spinelessness: Pelosi and Reid, the 111th Congress.... insert academic press here from whatever future historian will write this

13. It's also on his blog
http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/16/cars/

He links to a pretty good article from the New Republic. (Yeah, yeah, I know the New Republic frequently prints bullshit, but it's a pretty good article nevertheless.)

12. Now here is a point that the dems have made
and should push for

The TARP, has in it the authority to issue the bridge loan... you read that right

Why do you think Paulson is fighting that?

I say, the hand of the market place is their way to destroy the UAW... but at this point our spineless wonders should go to every media outlet and 'splain we can do this without authorizing any more funds, since those are in the pipeline, and the resistance from the executive betrays their true intent

Anybody expect our fearful wonders to do this?

I don't

16. Handing money to the Big 3 CEOs with no strings attached is a bad idea
but if they're going to do it, then a bridge loan from TARP is by far the most harmless way of it happening.

TARP money is already committed to being spent without rules or transparency on absurdly risky investments, so the end result isn't that much different if the absurdly risky investment is based in Detroit instead of Manhattan.

18. Well I wrote my critter today 'splaining some of the strings I want to see
some of them even involve WE the people starting our walk to single payer health care

Among the strings I proposed...

You work for us CEO, you get paid the same as the President, no more

You will develop green vehicles, 45 MPG is the ground, not the ceiling

Oh and this is not labor's fault so stop blaming labor.

20. They want to "punt"
To the White House. Bush says it's all on "their" shoulders and if they do nothing guess who will get the blame? Bush could care less, he "WANTS" to screw thing up so bad the republicans can make a come back in 2012. If Reid and Pelosi think this is going to hurt the republicans they better think again! The game is already in play. Officially there is no "recession", but just wait till after Obama is in office. Rush has already called this the "OBAMA RECESSION"! The media will go with it and if Reid and Pelosi don't stand up to this BS now, and show some spine, it's all going to be blamed on the democrats, every thing that has happened since Bush took office will be blamed on the democrats.

I tend to agree with the other post here that said we need to do them and this country a big favor and vote them out of office! We need new leadership in congress not a couple of jelly fish! Have the vote, and get it on record who voted for and who voted against it! If we don't get change in congress, it will be the same old crap we had before, nothing will ever get done!
