Recount: Norm Coleman’s lead over Al Franken shrinks
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 02:58 AM by azurnoir
By day's end, with about 18 percent of the vote recounted, Coleman continued to lead Franken -- but by only 174 votes, notably narrower than the unofficial gap of 215 votes at which the recount had begun. Franken's gain owed much to a swing of 23 votes in the Democratic stronghold of St. Louis County -- the result of faintly marked ballots and older optical scanners that failed to read the marks.

1. if the same trend continues, it doesn't look that good for Al...
with 18% of the vote counted, he's only made up 10.7% of the difference.

4. My County Supervisor won by 7 (seven) votes on a recount, after initially losing.
Every vote counts. And every vote should be counted.

5. What I don't understand about these optical scanners is why, in my
district where we use the same type of scanners, that if a ballot has a wierd mark somewhere or can't be read the scanner spits it out back and can't be counted?
