Sarah Palin's memoirs?

Speculation is mounting that the Alaska Governor and former Republican vice presidential nominee is closing in on a deal that could net her $7 million to tell her story. Reuters reports that Palin is in high demand.

"Every publisher and a lot of literary agents have been going after her," said Jeff Kleinman, an agent at Folio Literary Management.

The price tag would place Palin in pretty exclusive company. Few other prominent politicians have inked such lucrative deals.

2. They'll have to bail out the publishing company that prints her book..
NOBODY will buy it. Well, she may buy a few copies and her family, but most of her supporters can't even read!

Some big right winger will buy lots of books at once and then "give" them away.

9. Just figure...it will be all the right wing nut cases that waste their money.....go for it!
Edited on Wed Nov-19-08 09:59 PM by Hulk
I could care less about this pathetic scare we had. I don't think she has the brains to write a book, let alone to even read one.

Go for it. All the nut cases on the right can erect a shrine to this "lipstick pig" if they like. Hope she's up on the stage in four years with dopey, grumpy, sleepy, sleazy, goofy and the rest of the group that gave mcAncient the honors as "best of the motley crew". She would feet right in.

Let's see...shall we call her "bitchy"? or just plain stupid?

Maybe they're leaning toward something with lots and lots of colorful photos captioned in short sentences comprised of one syllable words?

13. And I wouldn't pay a dime for it.
If it were in a stack of free books in box, that's where it would stay.

14. What idiot would shell out money for a tell-all book from her?
A narcissistic, nasty serial liar? Wouldn't be worth the paper the ghost-writer's words were printed on.

15. FYI
Titles that don't make money at regular bookstores get "remaindered." Then the outlet stores, Half-Price Books, bargain book places try to sell it. After marking it down as low as it can go, these books eventually get recycled into brown paper grocery bags.

You can all sleep well tonight knowing the publisher of Sarah Palin's books will be paying 7 mil for grocery bags. (you know, the ones the stores give away!)

I just had to share

17. I call
shenanigans. I think this is a carefully crafted story to create demand where there is none. We're talking about a 7 million dollar advance. There are a handful of authors who can demand advances in that range. I think Bill and Hillary got in the 6 million and 10 million range respectively. But those are people who had a long time in public service and who had been in the White House for eight years.

I'd be fascinated to find out which publishers are actually willing to pay a sum like this. And just recently, Cheney's daughter also got a huge advance and her book tanked. Publishing is hurting just as much as other businesses, maybe more. Mainstream publishing was already heading for the crapper before the last couple years of economic woes.

And who the hell is going to buy this piece of shite anyway? The knuckledraggers who thinks she's the bee's knees? Hardly. I doubt there's been a big demand for this book which leads me back to saying this story is so much bs.
