Civics Literacy Test discussion on CSpan
I can't believe the results he cited. He said 70+% failed this test.

1. Well, we even have state governors who think the vice-president "runs" the Senate. nt

4. I'd love to see the same test administered here
I know we would do a fuck of a lot better and yet, even I've been guilty of occasionally sticking my foot in my mouth over a governmental rule I was unaware of.

5. Go take it.

Go to American Civic Literacy.org and take the test. I did and scored 30 out of 33, or 90 something percent. I got the ones I wasn't sure about right and missed some easy ones. I don't know how much watching c-span mattered. These seemed like basic things an education would help someone know. Oh, I think my age mattered. Some of the things I'd actually lived through, like the Cuban missile crises and Roe v. Wade.

6. I will

Thanks.

Yikes, I think of myself as a policy wonk and I made a low B score. Though I have some beef with the test as it didn't focus fully on our government, but wandered also into historical fact and even philosophy.

8. Same here (both score and questions)

Guess I need to brush up on my Greek philosophers, and I misinterpreted one other answer.

According to the site, politicians scored lower than average on all but 3-4 questions.
