5. don't ask and I won't tell
LOL

Wes is a total ace IMHO

and yeah he's got to wait for 10 years to elapse after serving to become Secretary of Defense.

That may just be a factor in terms of why Obama is considering retaining Gates for a limited period of time.

6. I'll second that, but would he want it?
More important, would Rahm want him. Wes comes off as the type that would throw a stick and tell the pit bull to fetch it.

FEMA needs to get out of it's jack-boots and Wes Clark could do it. I spent the summer and fall of 2004 working with and around FEMA following the 3 back to back hurricanes in Cen. Florida, I was Osceola County's first responder for damage to their public buildings, FEMA needs a complete make-over. Oddly, or maybe not, even after the field experience we gave them with food, shelter, mobile homes, traffic control, crime, etc. they turned around and totally botched NOLA.

9. Depraved indifference would be just as bad.
In my view, that's what's portrayed in the birthday cake and guitar photos.

11. it was beyond that.
Were you among the group that was listening to the police scanners here at DU that week? At one point, there was a fire in a garbage chute in the Superdome and the NG wasn't going to let the fire chief in. The NG tried twice to get the fire officials to leave. The NG told the chief to leave because the water tankers hadn't gotten there and that the NG was "getting ready to pull the plug" on operations there. The fire official refused to leave and the fire was extinguished but the building was still filled with smoke. again, the NG told the chief that he could leave and once again, the official refused to go.

It is my belief, that if that official had packed it up and left that night, there would have been 35,000 dead as a result of that fire. That would have been pre mediated murder. I heard it myself and there's just no one who can convince me that it was incompetence or indifference that occured in NOLA . the government wanted to take advantage.. to the fullest, of a devastating event. I believe they have a name for that. It's called Disaster Capitalism, isn't it?
