Michele Bachmann, the right-wing congresswoman from Minnesota, says that she never called for the news media to investigate members of Congress who might be anti-American.

Colmes: You said you were concerned during the campaign that Obama had anti American views and you said the news media should do a penetrating expose and take a look at the people and find out, are they pro-America or anti-America

Bachmann: Actually that's not what I said. It's an urban legend that was created and that's not what I said.

Disorder lie all the time. They will tell you the sky is blue on one day; the next day they will tell you the sky is green. When you confront them and remind them that on a previous day they said the sky was blue, they will just stare at you, change the subject or tell you how crazy you are. I know of what I speak. I lived with one - somehow- for over twenty years until the children got grown and I cleared the hell out.

Bush, Palin and now this piece of work, Bachmann.

Some tend to view them on a continuum, meaning they are one step below a sociopath.

One of the great debates is whether they consciously know they are lying. Regardless, they are effective liars. Very little you can do with them because they think they are "special." They don't do anything wrong. Everyone else does something wrong, though.

I didn't have anything but "sociopath" to describe the many I know. Apparently there's also a genetic disposition.

However, as far as "consciously know"ing whether they are lying, my experience is that they are able, on the fly, to justify any bizarre stance they take. Thankfully, I've learned to identify them quickly and simply walk away at the first sign or irrationality.

My absolute favorite example of all time (though I have many):

I'd saved frozen meat drippings (sans spices), fat, trimmings, gristle and other bits of cooking waste for months to send to the dogs at the family farm when I learned my sister was going to visit and traveled over two hours to deliver it. Her refusal to take perfectly good food to the dogs? They would get a taste for meat and begin attacking the livestock. I thought I was having a stroke.

Anyway, thanks for putting a name on it - any boy-o, does it fit.
