You Can't Always Get What You Want
Here's my $002...It's a little "link heavy", I'm sorry for that, but I prefer to back up my rants w/ some facts.

Chrysler credit rating could be cut
BY TIM HIGGINS • FREE PRESS BUSINESS WRITER • November 20, 2008
http://www.freep.com/article/20081120/BUSINESS01/811200358/1014
Fitch Ratings cautioned Wednesday that it might lower Chrysler's credit rating to a level that means default is probable, after the revelation that the automaker is quickly running out of money. <snip>

I don't have the heart to post the whole article..if ya wanna read more click the link. Basically it says that w/o a Federal Government loan, Chrysler is done. Chrysler employs over 6,000 people in my town of Kokomo, In., including me. Here's Barney from Marion, In. @ the DNC this past Summer. Marion is about 20 miles east of Kokomo.

I guess it's ok to loan AIG $80 (whatever) Billion.
I guess it's ok to front Wall Street $700 Billion.

But $25 billion split 3 ways to keep 3 million people in jobs..well...
Washington has a problem with that...

We saw the DOW fall below 8000 yesterday, I wonder how far it will fall when unemployment benefits run out for 3 million unemployed autoworkers?

I wonder how much money it will take to prop up The Pension Benefit Guarantee Corp. after these automakers fail? It's not like they're on solid ground to begin w/.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081024/ap_on_go_ot/meltdown_pensions

How many million retirees, like my Father, who sweat it out at GM for 30+ years will lose their pensions? The stocks they have in these companies, that they received years ago instead of pay raises, will be worthless as well. How will they fair?

These Republicans that are beating the "Death to Detroit" drum are making me sick..virtually sick!! These same "Proud American" bastards and their ilk that sold America the Iraq War, now have the wherewithal to stand in front of the cameras and tell us that Government shouldn't interfere in business. Are ya freakin' kidding me?

They're selling us another line of bullshit again here folks. I'm dismayed by the lack of a rebuttal from anyone. A few folks are standing up and calling them out, but every time they do...someone steals the megaphone and hands it over to Sen. Shelby or Mitt Romney to continue their onslaught. It's eerily reminiscent of October 2003.

It's costing us $2 Billion a WEEK for this war...for what? Are the Iraqi's paying us back? Is that a bailout, or a loan? Let's see..$2 Billion a week...for $25 Billion (which is what The Big 3 are asking the Gov. to loan them)...that would equal about 12 1/2 weeks in Iraq. It seems odd that Sen. Shelby and the GOP can pony up the resolve to give billions to Iraq but somehow can't find the fortitude to help Americans.

How much money have we wasted in Iraq? Will taxpayers ever see that money again? What's the good Sen. Shelby's position on that?
What is any Republican Legislator saying about that? The same rat bastards that looked the other way as thieves stole Billion's are bitching about a loan to the Big 3! Priceless!

If and when the Big 3 fall, I mean w/o the $25 billion in loans..it's just a matter of "when"...When that happens the Republicans will be drinking champagne and toasting to themselves at the death of Motown and the Middle Class and the UAW. At that moment when they do finally bury the Big 3, as Thomas Friedman has requested that the Michigan Congressional Delegation be the pallbearers on such a solemn occasion, hopefully they'll play this song. Just like the opening scene of "The Big Chill".

For it will be a long cold, chilly Winter for us here in these "rust belt" states.

1. Perhaps ThoseCold-Hearted Congressmen Think That They Will Benefit When the Big 3 Are No More
After all, they don't get any bribes (right now) from Detroit, and Union organizers get the opposition vote out against them. Look at the Air Traffic Controllers--disappeared into the dust from whence they came.

I got news for them, it ain't gonna play out like that any more.

2. I can't help feeling that we're getting "sold out" again.
Watch the coverage, if you dare to. The misinformation campaign that's been deployed by whomever is astounding!
