4. No, but it was a ' fender-bender'.
You could drive it home, but it doesn't steer straight anymore.

9. Sadly, most did not.
It was more important to many to feel good, and live in false paradigms of perception management that justified believing in any lie they were told.

Comfort and Complacency over Common Sense.

Interestingly enough, I'm starting to see a lot of heads raise out of the meadow with scared looks on their faces.

I'm not enough of a heartless bastard to tell them "I Told You So", and It's too heartbreaking to tell them that It's Too Late.

We are in for a very rough ride.

Some of us are not going to make it.

I hope the majority of us will.

10. Yes the "I'm reasonable because I think nothing historic will ever happen" crowd.
"Nothing will happen you bozos! It's all under control you whiners! The Iraq war will be mission accomplished in no time! Flowers and kisses for us, soccer balls for them. The stock market has been great for 20 years, so it will be fine for the next 50 years, and since that's my life span, it's all I really give a shit about..."

Yeah, that crowd.

12. The sad thing is, that a lot of these people are not bad people at heart.
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 06:13 PM by TheWatcher
They simply did not want to know, or could not handle knowing, the truth.

The Power Of The False Paradigm and Willful Ignorance is a most daunting thing to overcome, and as a nation, we have miserably failed to do so.

The people were willing to put their own well being, as well as that of their families, their fellow man, and their country, above facing the hard reality before them.

Like I said, I am beginning to see a lot of naysayers now very scared and concerned by what we face.

And what should scare you even more, is that, unfortunately, more than likely, even at this late date and reality that can no longer be reasonably denied, if TPTB can come up with any tonic to return them to their fantasy world and false paradigm that they have clung to for so long like an infant to it's favorite toy, they will choose the tonic over takling action and dealing with the circumstances they know can no longer be avoided.

I hope I am wrong,

I really do.

History tells me I'm probably not.

13. It's also a neoconservative cultural meme. The whole "Capitalism is the End of History"
Francis Fukuyama thing. This is it. Nothing ever happens from here on it. We're all postmoderns and postmarxist. Things just go up and down with the market. Stupid former 3rd world countries fight because they are less wealthy a.k.a. intellectually and morally inferior, but eventually these brown people will get it--with our military assistance--even if we have to kill them to save them--and by saving them, we mean giving them a chance to be "free like us."

And to a certain degree, being 'free' means being free from history, consequence, change, and failure.

14. You mean something along the lines of, "we have to give them a trillion dollars!!!"
It sucks being right, when all you see coming is bad and worse.

You are much more forgiving of them than I. Maybe it's from being on the receiving end of their fantasy for almost a decade after trying to warn them for a quarter century.
