1. I don't think it has anything to do with the recession.
They were bought in September and, par for the course, the buyer eliminates duplicate assets/people and consolidates.
That's business.

6. I hope that's the reason. It does make sense.
When Fast Food goes, you can pretty much call it a day.

4. I don't know as you can attribute this so much to recession as. . .
it's a consequence of the recent corporate buyout of Wendy's by Arby's. These seem more in line with corporate consolidation than they do store cutbacks.

From the article:

Wendy's, recently purchased by Arby's owner Triarc Cos. Inc., said it would shift 120 Dublin, Ohio, jobs to Atlanta in 2009.

The company also said about 45 Dublin positions would be eliminated, The Columbus Dispatch reported Thursday.

<snip>

"Wendy's employees have known a number of shared services positions would be moved to Atlanta," Wendy's spokesman Bob Bertini said.

Technically, 74 field positions in areas such as quality control, real estate, marketing and finance will be cut, the Dispatch reported. But, 15 of those jobs are currently unfilled and 14 of those staff members will be switched to other jobs, the company said.

7. The Three SubSectors of Last Resort
When these four crumble, you might as well concede we are in a full blown depression:

1. Fast Food
2. Tobacco
3. Liquor/Beer/Wine
4. Cosmetics
