I'm willing to bet Chris Matthews is preparing to run for senate from PA |
|
The way he has changed over the past year tells me he is headed in that direction.
Would you vote for him if you could? I'm assuming he runs as a Dem. from PA.

3. This is a bad idea. There's no way a guy who has spent so long blathering on TV won't be doomed... |
|
by words he has said in the past. The ridicule from the "tingle up my leg" comment would just be a warmup

10. Nobody in Philly or Pittsburgh cares WTH he said because they agree with him. |
|

He's a native son and a proud Phillies fan. All he needs to do is win big in Philly (which he will) and its burbs (check that off, too) and in Pittsburgh (which he will) and he'll add to the Senate majority <cross fingers for Franken and Martin races this year>.
Obama won huge in PA, so that "tingle" comment would be a great pro, not con. Anyone who thinks differently can vote Republican or write in PUMA with their claws.

12. Dude, this is Tweety we're talking about. |
|
And his being from Philly isn't going to help out in SW PA which is one of the few areas of the country that got redder this election than before. The blue base in that area has had a diaspora.

14. He'll win PA easily because he expresses himself like a top PA pol (see Murtha, Rendell). |

I lived and organized in SW PA for Team O this year. Obama won the Pittsburgh area. Anything Obama or Rendell can win, Matthews can, too. He'd be a sensation while campaigning. Okay, Richard Mellon Scaife won't endorse Matthews like he did Hillary but nobody reads the Tribune but wingnuts, anyway. But Matthews would have Murtha and others supporting him and using their party machinery for turnout. And of course, Team O's formidable grassroots will kick butt for him because we like him, too.

5. Vote for him? I'm ready to work for him. We need another Senate seat and I detest Arlen Spector. |

He's got the charisma, background, experience, and connections to win. The wind is at Democrats' back and Matthews is friendly with PA Gov. Rendell and Mayor Nutter of Philly. Fundraising shouldn't be a problem and there will be volunteers galore. Count on President Obama to campaign for him, too. :)

17. If I lived in PA, I would probably support the most progressive candidate in the primary... |
|
but of course I would vote for whoever the Dems put up.
and BTW, barring any crazy shenanigans, I think his running his guaranteed. Gossip is that he has been very buddy-buddy with Rendell lately and is talking with feminist groups about getting their endorsements off the starting block.
