Prayers/Good Thoughts/Vibes Needed |
|
One of my Son's good friends was driving on the Interstate about a month ago. His tire blew out and his vehicle flipped over four times, whereas he needed up across the median. No drugs, alcohol, cell phone use, excessive speed, etc. were a factor.
My son just learned that his friend died. He never woke up. The boy's family is devastated. It was their only child. My Son and family are horribly saddened by this boy's death. When someone you love/care about leaves the house/your presence, hug them and tell them you love them. You never know if you'll see them again.
He was only 20. R.I.P

6. My niece was recently killed in a car crash in Ohio. She just turned 18 and planned to be a nurse |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 06:35 PM by blm
and her boyfriend was a star athlete with a bright future. Both died within minutes.
The crash was because of a 20yo who was doing 85 on a quiet, narrow road on a Sunday afternoon. He had recently gotten his license back after previous speeding citations. Unfortunately for my family, some never learn from their past mistakes....until...it's far too late.
I feel for your friend. The pain these few months later is still raw for my family....and it doesn't feel like it will dissipate any time soon.
Peace to you and your friend.

most deaths are expected through aging, disease or risk. Sudden loss of young, vibrant people for no reason but a criminal level of carelessness......

I wish neither of us, none of us, knew this. I wish we never had to learn this hard, hard lesson.
But the gift within this lesson is that he can hold a small light on that dark road that others will inevitably travel, and we can tell them, yes, it will be all right. It will just be a new kind of all right.
We're still here and our presence is a testimony to the love we had for our lost ones, for the ones we have who are still here, held close.

she looked very much like an 18yo version of me, and I so looked forward to watching her shine.
My brother and his wife will never be the same though they try so hard for the sake of the other two kids.
My niece had just left a family reunion picnic....a short time later the sirens were heard by family still at the picnic...my brother is a firefighter and an EMS worker....he heard the sirens and thought he could help so he went to the scene.........

23. Prayers to you all. I know that horrible pain. We lost our son |
|
5 days before his 16th birthday. He went to soccer practice and died on the field. I can tell you that your son and this boy's other friends will need a lot of support and many opportunities to talk. Let them, they need to more than you know. His parents need this same opportunity. They need to be listened to without a lot of input. Just being there for them will help them greatly. Don't judge what they say or do during this grieving process. Whatever they do or say is what will make this more bearable for them. There is no right or wrong in the way they will grieve, they will do whatever it takes to let them survive this. There is no way around it, there is only through it and trust me, it is the worst and hardest thing they will ever have to do in their lifetime! Time is going to be there only friend. It is the only thing that lessens this horrid grief. It will never go away, the hole in their heart will only shrink in time but years from now it will seem like yesterday on certain days and an eternity on others.

You're so kind to think of the girl's friends, when you know from such bitter experience what the family members are going through--it must have been all-consuming, and probably still is from time to time.
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. What an unbearable shock. And when I think of the OP's brother going to the scene to help a stranger and instead seeing his child there....

Please let this young man's family know at an appropriate time--to check out and see if his tires were part of a SILENT recall. I noticed that my donor star is gone and I cannot do a search at this time--but if you search for my name and "tires" you will see the information that I found out after my tire did the same thing. This thread isn't the time or place to go into more details--but please, check it out. My sympathies to everyone close to this young man.

One of my grad students lost three of her classmates from both high school and university in a fiery accident three weeks ago. One of the students was an executive on the campus student government. He was driving at 100mph, hit a wall and the car caught afire after people rescued one person from the wrecked vehicle.
All of them were in their 20s. And yes, hug your family and friends.
