What's going on with XM167?
It's still listed on the guide at XM

1. My radio broke, so I can't tune in anymore. Did it go away?
If so, I won't bother replacing my little cheap radio thingy, which came free with the subscription.

2. It's still around.
It's just off the air tonight. But trust me, it still exists. I listen to it every morning. Except for when I switch to an online broadcast for the first hour of Stephanie Miller because they insist on running Young Turks from 9 to 10 ET.

20. You switch to the fart jokes and wacky sound effects because they insist on a good show from 9 to 10
;)

5. I don't know I was thinking it was my radio, the last week or
so when I tune to 167 it is temporarally off line and they are playing a promo for other XM or Serius music channels and such.

7. They appear to feel free to preempt XM167 for any sporting or
other special event they choose. At first it was just on the weekends. Now, it is increasingly on week nights and as a loyal XM subscriber for 3+ years I have just about had it! When I take my next look at my budget, I have a feeling that is the next to go, or at least reduce down to one radio..

Better service from the merger, indeed....:eyes:

8. Same thing that's going on with all the channels -
in other words, the merger with Sirius has the whole damned thing hosed up beyond belief. I do NOT like most of the changes that have come since the 12th. They took away one of my favorite channels, changed several others, and added a whole raft of useless crap channels. If I'd wanted Sirius, I would have subscribed to it. Ugh.

11. The service has been awful since the switch.
It takes about 3-5 minutes for any channel to "load" when I get in my car. Before the merger and channel changes, I almost never had any such delays. It's really frustrating, and I'm sick of hearing the promos on 167 and getting automatically switched to channel 1. I'll give it about a month or two, then I'll cancel if this is the best they can do. Yuck.

15. Something isn't right. You might want to try refreshing your radio, or check your antenna connection
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 08:17 PM by high density
Refresh: http://www.xmradio.com/refresh/index.xmc

Also, if it is a stand-alone radio, try shutting it off once by using the power button. Sometimes the way they're shut off in the car (i.e. by loss of power) causes problems when the lineup changes, as happened last week.

I'm not sure what you mean by "stand-alone," but I'll do what you say. I hope it will help. It's been a real bummer.

12. even the DTV XM channels suck now
its horrible what theyve done to the programming. half of the good channels either merged with another channel or just dont exsist.

10. Why can't they pre-empt the RW programming?
It really pisses me off. I was listening to XM this morning, it seemed fine, but if they are going to start dumping evenings, I'll be mad.

13. Yup. I was on call with the customer service supervisor complaiming
She was at a lost of why 167 was off the air and giving me uniformed excuses as they are in the process of changing around programming. That was a BS answer. Yes they are changing around programming, but the reason they are cutting out XM 167 is because of satellite bandwidth to cover the sports programming. I told her she doesn't understand and I need to speak to someone who does. She wouldn't put be through to anyone higher up the chain, but gave me their corporate number: 1-202-380-4000. I called the number, but I got the old automated run-around and they disconnected my call.

Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 08:25 PM by SoCalDem
they are sending a new "signal"..we'll see if that helps..but it's ONLY 167 that's having "issues"..

I think someone is having a little fun with us..

she also said "no one had complained about it but me"..

so..please be sure you all call and complain

19. Why "dump" ANY channels.. I mean really!
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 08:33 PM by SoCalDem
Surely there are "empty" channels available for "special" programming..

What makes them think that someone tuning in to THEIR "special" channel about politics..would be even remotely interested in a Grambling football game:rofl:

21. bandwidth is tight.. and they 'pick on' those channels..
because they are not music.. you degrade the quality on the music channels and people go nuts.

25. Well, 166 is right, 169 is a "Black" channel
169 has some democratic leanings, so that's 1 right wing channel against their complete liberal line up. 165, 166, 168, 173, and the others outnumber the left channels about 8 to 2.

26. Hey, Roscoe T:, can they possibly NOT be getting complaints?
Someone upstream posted that no one was calling to complain. Money is tight now for many of us and it won't take much for me to d/c service, just as I did cable tv, long ago. XM was a small luxury, but one I can certainly do without if they are going to continue to preempt like this... I was not so upset when they did it on the weekends, as they have periodically during football season the past few years, but now that they are doing so during the week at night, I am fed up...
