2. If it's like any other
civil service job, it will take months before he get hired.

Meanwhile claims will be backing up, stacked in piles...

3. Joe the Plumber lives near Toledo. If the Big 3 fail, the original JTP will also be screwed.
So Joe the Plumber and Joe the Autoworker will likely be in same unemployment line.

Seriously...we've seen this before! Back in Oct 2002 in the drum-up to war.

Lies are told and they bounce around the airwaves for 7 days, pretty soon everyone believes them!

8. Unfortunately, I don't see the Dems in Congress rushing to help the auto industry either.
It can't help that they just kicked Dingell of Michigan out of his Energy Committee chairmanship to make way for Waxman, the anti-smoking/Global Warming extremist from California.

All the Big Three are asking for is 25 billion -- far less than went to AIG alone.

A lot of people now agree that one thing Obama needs to do is to pour money into infrastructure to create jobs as a kind of new New Deal. Well, there's a lot of jobs that exist right now that can be SAVED if we save the auto companies.

:sarcasm: Oh yeah, but those jobs are un-cool manufacturing jobs in un-cool states, right? Who cares about them? So what if their livelihood goes down the tubes - they can just switch over to being web designers, college administrators or microbrewers. And who needs cars? Everyone should just move to Manhattan (you don't need a car there!) :sarcasm:

14. Crooks & Liars has a different take on Waxman/Dingell...

Waxman's in, Dingell's out
By David Neiwert Thursday Nov 20, 2008 11:00am
It's official:

California Rep. Henry A. Waxman on Thursday officially dethroned longtime Energy and Commerce Chairman John Dingell, upending a seniority system that has governed Democratic politics in the House for decades.

In a secret ballot vote in the Cannon Caucus Room, House Democrats ratified an earlier decision by the Steering and Policy Committee to replace the 82-year-old Dingell with his 69-year-old rival. The vote was 137-122 in favor of Waxman.

The ascension of Waxman, a wily environmentalist, recasts a committee that Dingell has chaired since 1981 with an eye toward protecting the domestic auto industry in his native Michigan. The Energy and Commerce Committee has principal jurisdiction over many of President-elect Barack Obama's top legislative priorities, including energy, the environment and health care.

As John says, this is truly welcome news. We may finally get some oversight from this committee. Matt Stoller has more.

10. He'll be way in front of Joe the IT Specialist in the breadline
Well, if the Republicans don't decide that the bread lines are to much socialist-class warfare on Joe the Billionaire as he has his truffles on this private jet.
