Anyone watching Countdowns number 1 story? My wife and I are sooo sick!
My wife is very sensitive to thing and she kept her eyes and ears cover most of the time but she wanted to here some of Governor Palin's BS.... IT was just sick1 She had to know what was going on and just make her so LOW.

And HOW dumb is that farmer not to realize just WHAT was being filmed. He was purposely doing it and NO ONE on that news crew didn't even stop him!

11. They scrubbed it so much you couldn't really tell what was going on....

Yes, it's a turkey farm so it's obvious they are going to be killing turkeys there. But I was watching pretty closely and I'll be damned if I could tell what I was seeing other than a turkey being placed in some metal cone.

That said, (directed to another poster) what the fuck is the news supposed to do? Tell the turkey dude not to do his job?

I guess someone could have said "uh, Gov., do you really want us shooting you in this location given you just tried to imply you were a protector of all creatures great and small." More likely, the media was more than happy to faciliate Palin shooting herself in the foot.

should have realized what poor taste the who scene was.

It was just shocking. Sorry.

Nah, she's oblivious.

And I'm sorry you were disturbed, but you did have fair warning.

24. I wouldn't expect the turkey farmer to be the first to say "hey this might not look so great
on tv".

Blame the gov.

6. Another good example of why we should be responsible eaters.
It used to be we could eat any way we wanted. You shoot a wild turkey. No lifelong sitting in a cage, unhappily living for the moment of beheading.

Not any more.

This is another example of how we collectively have created a living hell for many of our fellow beings.

That being said, I had steak tonight. And I'm feeling mighty lousy about myself. It's time to change. Six billion just can't do anything they wish any more.

And when it comes to turkeys, you know it's pretty much us or them, anyway.

16. Palin said she had no worries with it
She knew they were killing turkeys behind her. Just give thanks she wasn't killing the turkeys while being interviewed. She'll probably do that next year.

17. If you eat meat
why are you so upset? Do you think it comes naturally shrink-wrapped? Animals suffer and are killed so you can eat meat. If you're going to, you shouldn't be offended by the act.

Sure, let's make her "leader of the free world." Right.

She's as Pro-Death as anyone I've ever seen. Death to wolves, death to polar bears, death to moose, death to turkeys. She's a monster.

23. I've been on farms, and my husband's a meat-cutter, so I'm not
too squeamish about where the gobbler on my Thanksgiving platter came from. I've eaten pigs whose names (yes, sometimes dinner has had a name) I've known. But I do think it's odd that no one around her said, "Governor, um, let's take the interview facing over here, there's...better lighting," or some such. Although her constituency may be less PR conscious.

I do think she knew what the set-up was about and knew that turkeys were being processed (to use a non-emotional phrase) behind her--and as a hunter, I guess she is less bothered by that kind of matter-of-fact animal-killing. But that her political instinct didn't click in and inform her that having squirming birds get decapitated behind her was just a bit creepy and off-message, says more than a bit about her empathy for how others view a situation.
