Families can't afford to bury dead
The economy is getting so bad that some families to bury their dead. Up in Michigan they spent $4 million burying people who were left at the M.E.'s office.

I already had a bone to pick with those religious organizations over their spending money on getting prop 8 passed but now it's up to a couple bones. Organizations like the Focus on the Family Holier Than Thou Society and the K of C spent all this money on writing discrimination into a Constitution but couldn't care less about doing things like taking care of the poor or ensuring that all families are able to bury their loved ones when the time comes.

1. They'll raise money to help bury people as soon as they realize it's a problem,
because it'll be a huge fundraiser they can skim 95% of the donations off.

Or, hell, if it's Dobson, probably just skim all 100% and send out 30 page brochures to the donors telling them how many millions (yes, they'll actually millions, and their ignorant followers won't bat an eye) of families they've helped to bury their honorable patriotic America- and Jesus-lovin' dead.

2. Don't expect help from SOME organized religious hypocrites.
I feel like I'm living in a third world uncivilized nation and the worst is yet to come. Things are getting ugly.

4. I was taken aback when union members at my supermarket were outsideraising money to bury a coworker!
The family couldn't afford a burial. Seriously. They were religiously against a cremation which is cheaper. So they had a sale of hot dogs outside of the supermarket. I gave them money because I felt so bad for the family, altho I don't have a bad feeling about cremations at all.

That is terrible.

6. My Aunt died a couple of weeks ago.
My Uncle had no insurance on her. He didn't know what he was going to do. the funeral homes wouldn't take payments or make arrangements with him. My sister and I talked about it and paid for our Aunts funeral. After, I told my son.. don't do it for me. The costs are ridiculous. Hell a cardboard box and incineration alone will cost close to two grand.

7. Rather than spending money on prop 8 the K of C should be reminded
that we were taught in Catechism that burying the dead and comforting the bereaved are Acts of Mercy. They would gain more favor in heaven if they put their energies and cash into taking care of people.

8. These people never heard of Matthew 25
The K of C and these right wing religious organizations have either never heard of Matthew 25, forgotten it, or know about it and pretend it's not there.

Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'" (Matt 25:34-45
