Inside sources say Paul Reubens will be the next press secretary.

But, Reubens will stay in character as Pee-wee Herman to avoid the embarrassing porn-movie arrest that afflicted Reubens.

I think it's a great choice. Pee-wee showed his tough interview skills with his MTV talk show, "The Pee-wee Herman Show" in which he interviewed rising and fallen rock stars and professional wrestlers.

Although some pundits have scorned this choice as being "cynical and insincere", others see it as a well deserved and totally sincere flip of the finger to the Washington DC press corps.

Congrats, Mr. Reubens.

My favorite Pee-wee Herman moment -- actually the only moment when I found him entertaining at all -- was when he made an appearance at the MTV awards program after his arrest. He showed up in character and faced a mildly amused crowd (clearly laughing at him); his opening comment: "Heard any good jokes lately?" I couldn't help but laugh.
