Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 12:32 PM by GreenPartyVoter
http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_gastemperaturemap.aspxWhy are there some real hot (expensive) spots in the middle of areas with more moderate prices, and what is up with NY?

1. Clearly gas taxes are playing a big role. |

2. Probably a couple of reasons. |
Perhaps there are county/local taxes in play that bring gas prices up. Or (maybe in the case of that one county in Montana) there are only a few number of providers, and they can charge whatever they like.

5. The town I live in has a GM plant, a Johns Manville Plant and various other small |
factories. Our gas is always higher than anyone around us. When people started questioning it they were told it's because of different distribution points. But my theory is on Wednesday mornings all area business people get together to decide how high they can get away with jacking the prices up for the week-end and they all go up at precisely the exact same time. When K-mart was still here they were the only holdout they would wait a day. Then as soon as people started complaining they would take it down to what neighboring towns were and leave it there for awhile then start all over again. I know that sounds tin-foil hatish put hey it seems like thats exactly what is happening, at least around here.

6. I would love to see an overlay map of what counties had gone blue |
and contrast them against the gas prices.

7. It looks almost exactly like a map of who voted for McCain (red) and Obama (green) |
Really, I'm not kidding a bit.
