Move over Bush. Step out of the way, Elizabeth Hasselbeck. There's a new queen of stupid, and she's here to stay.

Palin gives an interview with a local news network about the annual pardoning of a turkey - while turkeys are being slaughtered in the background by a guy who looks like he's enjoying his job a bit too much.

You're warned. It's a gruesome video. In more ways than one.

4. Unfortunate backdrop
Ew...what an unfortunate backdrop for an interview. Considering she is a hunter, it probably didn't bother her. She has some different ideas when it comes to working with the oil compsnies though. Worked well in Alaska.

10. Plus it was a local newcast that got picked up by the networks
Given it was a local newscast I'm sure she figured the locals wouldn't have an issue with the backdrop.

That said, it shows that she really doesn't think in advance on how something is going to come across beyond the view from Alaska. And, if she hasn't "gotten" by now that snagging the "base" isn't enough to win a national election she's never going to get it.

For someone who thinks she has a serious shot at being president she continues to show a geographic myopia that any serious Republican challenger in the primary is going to pounce on.

20. Are you kidding?
She "forces" them to increase the payout to alaska citizens - thereby putting her in the public's good graces - and then chants DRILL BABY DRILL. She is the oil companies' new best friend, because she does things their way - with bribery and deceit.

6. Does anyone else think this was a complete set-up on Palin?
1. Obviously the cameras could have been angled away from the gore, but they intentionally caught all of the slaughter action with Palin yammering in the foreground ignorant of the carnage behind her.
2. The most telling action of all that it was a set-up was when the reporter asked Palin: "Are you concerned about any state programs being on the chopping block?"
And this coincided succinctly with the butcher boy hoisting that last poor turkey's neck down the chute of doom!! That could not have been coincidental!!

If you missed this part go back and look and listen. What a hoot!! :eyes:

7. They asked her about the backdrop and she said she was "fine with it".
So basically she wanted the viewers to see the turkeys being killed. How twisted is that?

15. If it was a local news spot (which is probably was)
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 02:05 PM by Mike Daniels
I don't think most Alaskans would have an issue with the imagery and that's probably how her mind was processing it. Seriously, if the footage had stopped with the turkey pardoning do you think this would have ever been picked up nationally?

Palin's problem is that because she's basically said that she's running in 2012 everything she does is going to be viewed from perspectives other than just that of Alaskans. For whatever reason she either has failed to grasp this or willfully ignores it in some belief that the Republican base is large enough in itself to win her a national election.

You decide.

I watched this thing and I still have no idea what the hell she said. Something must have been distracting me.

Shame on the 55 million people that were willing to risk the chance of her ending up president. I mean, really they thought this woman should have nuclear codes?

I still think someone at KTUU is being subversive ... how else would the raw, uncut footage have gotten to the outside media?

Incidentally, for what it's worth, this turkey farm raises its birds without the use of hormones or antibiotics.

like he's saying, "When the fuck are these people going to leave so I can get my WORK DONE?"

21. Yep, he wanders off at one point as though he's trying to avoid being in frame
When he does come back he stands directly in the view of the turkey so as to block a lot of that shot.

It's because of him blocking the shot that I didn't figure out until this morning that he was cutting the turkey's neck.

I'd think that if the camera hadn't been focused on the processing station that the bird he was working on would have been processed a lot faster.

17. There's something else about the interview

She showed up in high heels and a short skirt in 11 degree weather.

According to Alaskan bloggers, she has never done that before. She's always worn thermal pants and a parka in winter weather events.

Apparently she hasn't returned all the clothes bought for her.
