3. Rush was on today saying how great Walmart is, and why do Democrats hate Walmart?
Perhaps, we should force him to work there and live off of the great wages.

12. The sad part is...
... the implication that to be profitable, you HAVE to fuck your employees. :grr:

14. Out of one side of his ugly mouth
he says he's all for people getting ahead, but look to Wal-Mart as the model for business success.

Conservatives continue to impress me with their fucking ignorance and lunacy year after year after year.

5. Thank God it isn't Summers. ... a disaster averted.
So far. Let's just hope Vilsack, Mr. chemical farming/anti-organics, doesn't make it to Agriculture.

9. Actually Agriculture Secretary has little say on type of research done by USDA.
It is the National Program Staff and the individual scientists and lab chiefs - all merit selections - who make those kinds of decisions.

15. Also crop production is a very small part of the USDA budget. Mostly it is food stamps.
And then there is meat inspection, soil conservation, etc. Crop production is a pittance.

6. I was just going to ask this.
But, is it due to the pick or because is it just another late rally the kind that always seems to happen in the last half hour of the trading day?

7. snip:
"I would say the market is going to like" Geithner's nomination, said James Awad, managing director of Zephyr Capital. " Summers was more controversial. People will view it as a safe choice, an experienced guy. There's a little bit of a question because he's associated with the bailout, and that's still a work in progress and not totally successful. There will be a few who'll be upset because he's associated with the TARP."

According to the New York Fed website, Geithner graduated from Dartmouth with a bachelor’s degree in government and Asian studies in 1983 and from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies with a master’s in International Economics and East Asian Studies in 1985.

He joined the Treasury in 1988 and worked in three adminstrations, serving as Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs from 1999 to 2001 under Secretaries Robert Rubin and Lawrence Summers.

He become New York Fed president in 2003. In that capacity, he serves as the vice chairman and a permanent member of the Federal Open Market Committee, the group responsible for formulating the nation's monetary policy.istrations for five Secretaries of the Treasury in a variety of positions.

11. I can't believe anyone would take the job right now.
Talk about a thankless and doomed role.
