Obama chose his Democratic primary-season rival Sen. Hillary Clinton to be secretary of state, the New York Times reported.
For Treasury secretary, he has turned to Timothy Geithner, the president of the New York Federal Reserve and a former Treasury official. Obama plans to nominate Bill Richardson, an energy secretary under President Bill Clinton, for the post of Commerce secretary.
NBC News reported the news about Geithner and Richardson. Geithner's spokesman had no comment about the NBC report. Geithner will inherit oversight of the Bush administration's $700 billion bailout for Wall Street.
Obama's office had no comment on the reports.
