1. Where in Bloomington are they doing this? |

I might have to wander over there to take a gander myself.

I'd like to see vote counting be a citizen requirement like jury duty.

11. I'd like to see every state have Minnesota's recount rules and transparency. |
|
Think how Blackwell and the GOP legislature set up Ohio's recount rules. Unbelievable.

8. Two things are required - a door strong enought to sustain the pounding |

and the press - their kind of press.
I'll never forget watching that on TV - I truly thought they were Miami-Date County residents/voters. That is how it was presented.
They were Republican operatives - flown in. I don't like being duped.
I'll never forget. Meaning I don't think I'll ever forgive.
And it's an easy event to tell the people who never know anything because they placed earplugs and blinders on themselves.
So, civility reigns in Minnesota today?

10. I remember seeing that on TV as well |

The most discouraging part of it was that their little staged riot actually had the effect that they desired, with the Miami-Dade canvassing board stopping the recount. The deck was already stacked against that recount being completed, due to the stalling and obstructionist tactics from so many that had influence on the process in Florida.
I haven't heard of any shenanigans taking place in MN. I think their tradition of being a "good government" state, and reasonably clear (and liberal) counting procedures will both keep MN from having the type of conflicts that went down in FL 2000 from taking place. Of course, I'd never put it past the Repugs to give it a try...

13. Now that I'm home and can type properly . . . |
|
There were quite a few differences between the representatives of the two campaigns.
* Frankens had professionally produced badges, with logo and everything. Colemans had handwritten name tags.
* Frankens were relatively laid-back and smiling. Colemans were grumpy and tense.
* Frankens had papers and manned laptops on their assigned table. Colemans had Mountain Dew.
Having said that, folks on both sides were quite professional and friendly, as were the state officials.

15. I heard someone on Minnesota Matters tonight giving their report of what they saw at the recount |
|
(I didn't catch where they had been observing). They said pretty much the same things you did, but added that the Franken observers were younger and the Coleman people appeared to be old enough to be retired and had no sense of humor.
