Three new GM factories built overseas in 2008 and part of bail out money to fund a factory in Brazil |
|
General Motors to Invest $1 Billion in Brazil Operations -- Money to Come from U.S. Rescue Programhttp://www.laht.com/article.asp?ArticleId=320909&CategoryId=12396A new GM factory that just started up in Russia. GM opens first Russian factoryhttp://www.leftlanenews.com/gm-opens-first-russian-factory.htmlGM has opened two plants in India in 2008 GM opens second India planthttp://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/09/02/business/AS-India-GM-Plant.phpSo even while tens of thousands of GM employees here risk losing their jobs, GM wants lots of our tax dollars to build more foreign factories. I mean how dare they pay for it out of their executive's payroll and bonuses or even export our vehicles there.

Just like AIG is using our tax dollars to pay for those half million dollar parties, GM wants bail out money to invest in more foreign markets. Maybe they haven't got it yet but they will if they keep stirring up the public's fear about a doomsday depression and 10 million will lose their jobs if they're allowed to fail. Sounds to me like they're doing pretty good for themselves opening three new factories, just not here in the US.

How DARE these assholes expect money for FOREIGN investment? You can bleat about saving US jobs all you want -- these f*ckers are going to do as they damned well please. The UNIONS need to get behind nationalizing these companies FAST. That is the ONLY way to save your jobs.

|
As one of the people who is already unemployed in this country thanks to the housing market, I can tell you that unless YOUR union gets behind taking over these companies you can consider yourself well and truly f*cked REGARDLESS. Do you want to give them money and THEN lose your job? Because that IS what is going to happen.
YOUR tax dollars are financing their move of business to other countries. RIGHT NOW. The bailout will only help them speed it up.
WAKE UP. And start calling your union bosses and DEMAND that they do something other than wait for Congress to finance the job moves to Brazil.

The big three have been opening new plants and building more green and fuel efficient vehicles all over the world for almost 30 years. They just let go of a few thousand here, a few thousand there, shut a factory here, one there, year after year....
I can almost assure you that no American jobs will be saved long term with a bail out. They will use the excuse to expand more overseas in order to be profitable and pay the money back.
Think about it.

You have nothing to back that up.
BTW, GM builds plants in other countries because they are developing markets in other countries.

We got Obama and we might get Franken but the rest of the incumbents that have gotten rich and help getting re-elected by letting GM keep exporting jobs needs to be purged.

By letting GM and the other big three do stuff like this and giving them our tax dollars to do so. Even before the bail out and currently they get billions in tax breaks and subsidies all in the name of promoting American goods overseas.

What's wrong with exporting stuff we manufacture instead of importing everybody else's stuff?
And if I was your next door neighbor telling you I was broke and forcing you to give me money that you earned, then you find out I'm building a new house across town. How would you feel then? Good business?
Where's your facts BTW?
Idiot :P
Oh look, you got a blog like people really care. How often a day do you look at it?

set up local production for designs to be sold to the locals. Sometimes, we have to do it or they just won't buy. Or they actually pay us to do it.
BMW, Porsche, and all of the Japanese auto makers have set up production lines here for much the same reasons, and much of the Japanese electronics have been assembled here in previously US owned factories.

...instead of creating jobs here. You are just a turd no matter how smart you think you are or how important you think your thoughts are on your low rent, please notice me, blog. You and the republicans share the same idea that sending jobs overseas will create more jobs here in the US and that wealth trickles down.
And since you support profits for CEOs and board members only versus jobs and money staying in local communities, why are you hanging out around here with your Bush/Cheney ideas you freeping troll?

You once read a Forbe's magazine in the shitter? You watched the FOX business channel at your parents? Or since you blog about it (on a blog nobody reads) that makes you a qualified expert

This issue is so complex, although some of the automotive union people on DU would have you believe it's apple pie stuff, black and white.
The question that needs to be answered is do we want to give away more money to particular corporations as we select winners and losers during a period of time when thousands of companies are going to go belly up.
Secondly, it's not right to call these loans because anybody with an IQ over 35 knows they will never, ever be repaid.
Thirdly, are these corporations that deserve to be rewarded? In some instances the answer might be yes, in others no.
Fourth, what is to prevent the corporations from taking the money and, in spite of that, screwing the workers? We may well be entering a period of deflation, where that will be the excuse to demand workers take wage cuts.
Fifth, these hand-outs are band-aids simply prolonging the inevitable collapse of these corporations because they are having trouble surviving. They are not competing well in the world markets. If we are going to become simply an originator of charitable donations, why these three? Why not everyone else in trouble?
