PE and Mrs. Obama choose Sidwell Friends School for daughters
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 05:16 PM by RGBolen
WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama and his wife have chosen private Sidwell Friends School in Washington for their two daughters.

A spokeswoman for Michelle Obama, Katie McCormick Lelyveld, says the Obamas considered several schools for 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha but decided Sidwell Friends was the best fit.

Sidwell Friends is a private Quaker school in northwest Washington that Chelsea Clinton attended.

The family also looked at Georgetown Day, which was founded in 1945 and was an early pioneer in integration.

10. It's one of the "greenest" schools ever.. I'm not surprised
http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/article/CA6472363.html

There was a segment about them on one of the cable networks..about how they tried to be as toxin-free as possible with everything IN the school, and how they recycle everything..

11. Hunter Biden's daughters go there, I believe--and the Obama girls got to know them
at the Convention in Denver. It always helps a child to know someone who will be in a new school with them. Of course there were other considerations as well such as security, and quality.

13. Children on high-profile people almost have to go to private school
Amy Carter went to public school, but I think she was the only one who did..

Nixon's daughters were near finishing school & I don;t know where they went..

Ford's daughter was either a senior in HS or a college freshman, iirc

Reagan's kids were past school age

Bush1's the same

Clintons were the first ones since Carter with a kid under 16

The last time there were little kids in office, was during the kennedy years, and I don't think caroline went to school yet when her Dad was assassinated.. (she may have had a private tutor)
