4. When California had a 55mph speed limit, fatal accidents were reduced. |

I think we should do it again. No one needs to get anywhere that fast. IMHO.

5. Funny you say that - I just drove 60 miles round-trip earlier today on an interstate |
|
and noticed more people speeding than the last few times I've done it. Why? I'm sure it's because gas prices are lower. Most people don't give a crap about global warming, air pollution, dependence on foreign oil, higher insurance/death rates ... if it's cheaper, ZOOOOOOOOOM. I just let 'em go. As an old bumper sticker (in the 70s) said, 'Speed on Brother, Hell Ain't Half Full'.

8. When I was but a child, I rode with my grandfather up north to Alpena, Michigan. |

It was the very early 50s. My grandfather's car was a Karmann Ghia ... a 'sporty' VW. Despite my grandfather's appreciation for 'sporty' cars and motorcycles (he had a Harley in 1917 and an Indian in 1920 or so), he was a responsible driver. When he was passed by a particularly fast driver, he said "Hurry up! Hell ain't half full!" I'll always remember the day my grandfather said "Hell" in my company. He was Norwegian.

6. And every single speeding ticket would be thrown out, or reduced to something else. |

Why not just make speeding a capital crime, Skippy? Let the cops just shoot 'em on the side of the road.
Using the "Cruel and unusual punishment" clause in the Constitution takes care of excessively punitive laws that are on the books.
Educate yourself as to the real reasons of traffic deaths, anyway. Speeding is only a factor, and is seldom the over-riding one at all.
But keep up with the knee-jerk reactionary posts. Matthew 7:20.
