What Is That?: Callers, Air10 Spot UFO Over Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA - News10 often receives calls from those who spotted something unusual in the night skies. It's not nearly as common for those calls to be backed up by our own Air10.

While shooting Friday Night Football highlights over Sacramento, Air10 pilot Ed Georges and FNF correspondent Angel Cardenas spotted a strange set of lights flying over their helicopter.

"I know what aircraft lighting looks like and this was definitely something different," Georges said. "It looked almost like a scrolling message on a blimp to the naked eye. I was at 1,200 feet and it was considerably higher."

Georges said he and Cardenas manuevered the helicopter to get a better look at the lights through Air10's Power Zoom camera.

"(Angel and I) were both amazed at the odd lights and movement. I started flying toward it, but it began to fade away and disappeared to the southeast," Georges said. "Not knowing the size of the object, I couldn't determine how far away we were, but I believe it was some distance away as the image was fuzzy even through the PowerZoom camera."

Absolutely.

From another planet?

Using the theorem of common sense, I'd say interplanteary travelers would flip the switch to "off" when flying in our airspace in order to be undetected.

But this is based solely on my research of interplanetary travel (albeit within the time-space continuum).

And certainly, at its sheer basis, it excludes metaphysics.

Just my 2 sense.

3. I can see where you might see a plane shape,

outlined by flashing lights, but I've never seen an airplane move like that before!

5. I interpreted the movement as the camera moving

not the ufo.

I appears tht the camera is hand held and not in the least stationary.

Kind of like watching an old Hill Street Blues episode.

7. Not all of it is the camera.

The camera's a bit shaky but there a re a couple times where the "thing" moves in and out of the frame and you see the camera chase it.

9. I thought that might be a factor, too.

But this was shot by professional videographers, used to shooting moving objects (cars/traffic) from a moving vehicle (helicopter), so it's quite unlikely that the sudden zig zags and shifts were entirely camera operator error.

4. What we don't know

One could easily argue that applying common sense to sightings of UFO's would be that we simply don't know how to interpret any extraterrestrial presence intent or methods since we have no clue as to who or what "they" are. So guessing that they would want to remain undetected is only our own projection of intent. Common sense tells us to be aware and discerning only. My 2 cents worth.
