In restaurants, who is willing to defend the family special?
More and more traditional families are having the following experience. They go to a local restaurant and order the family special. A couple of years later, they realize that the meal was unsatisfactory. When they realize that it was unsatisfactory, they initially can't figure out why it was unsatisfactory.

One day they see a large, hungry individual order the family special and eat the whole thing. A few weeks later they notice that a single mother and her two children have ordered the family special. A pattern emerges and it becomes clear why the meal eaten two years ago was unsatisfactory.

Legislators have been making efforts to defend the traditional family, but what have they achieved if it's no longer possible to get a satisfactory family meal at the local restaurant?

What's a "family special"?

And how does someone realize, a couple of years after, that a meal was unsatisfactory?

I'm so confused by this post.

Thank you for any help you might give me.

9. Here's an example of a family special:
$21.99 Family Special
As always, we still offer our famous original Family special. Imitated, but never duplicated.

Includes a Large Pizza with up to Three Toppings, Small Breadstix with dipping sauce, 10-piece chicken wings, and a 2-Liter Coca-Cola product.

13. Perhaps they are pointing out that either portion sizes re no longer "family" size
or that singular appetites are NOW "family size"

Applebees has a $2 for $20 special that's pretty decent, but when you add the salad, beverage, & tip, it still ends up being $75 for 4 people
