When Left is Right (How Rachel came out on top)
Here is a great article on Rachel Maddow. Enjoy.....

<SNIP>All the ensuing hype and excitement about Maddow's rapid rise, and her quirks—the smart, self-described "butch dyke" who somehow broke into the cable-news boys' club—has masked the true reason for her success. It's not despite her differences from other talking heads, but because of them. A funny, cerebral and likable young woman who reads graphic novels and hungers for political change is more representative of the times than the older, angrier male pundits who've dominated the debate for so long. Maddow is not angry—her fans find her adorable, often confessing to crushes on her—but she is anxious, driven and determined. She did not stumble into a boys' club. She elbowed her way in, smiling.<SNIP>

3. i've been listening to her from the start
on AAR and my sense is that she didn't elbow her way in, either...everyone in the room just noticed she was there and moved away from the dinosaurs to be with her!

4. I find her lovely in every way. Love smart people (especially dems with senses-
of-humor, but I laugh when I see her on other shows now. She looks so small and boyish. Very cute I love her. I am an old straight southern belle, by the way.

6. She is also very brilliant and does not have to read off the monitor
as proved when From provoked a surprise attack and she had to go off script. He planned to nail her, but he picked the wrong target. She is a Rhodes scholar; she is thus in the same intellectual league as Bill Clinton.
