Folk/Blues/Civil Rights pioneer Odetta hospitalized
Edited on Sun Nov-23-08 11:34 AM by Bluzmann57
It has come to my attention that Odetta, one of the greats in folk and Blues music has been hospitalized with kidney failure. It has been relayed to me that she is doing well and hopes to perform at Obama's inaugaration on January 20.
I have had the opportunity to meet her and let me tell you, she is a truly down to earth person. She genuinely cares about others and wants nothing but the best for all people. Let's wish her well and maybe we can sing "This little light of mine" for her.
"This Little Light of Mine
I'm gonna let it Shine
I ain't gonna study war no more
I ain't gonna study war no more
I ain't gonna study war no motre
I ain't gonna study waaarrr no more"

3. Odetta is a national treasure.
I once saw her interviewed on PBS where she was talking about modern day performers and rock stars. She said something like this: "They can play three cords and so they think they have talent...."

I just love her.

Prayers for a speedy recovery.
