Finally. Today it all sank in. And it was exposure to Al Gore that did it. |
|
President Gore was on with Fareed Zakaria. It was a substantive interview. Good, thoroughly researched, confidently asked questions on a variety of subjects, in an atmosphere where 2 men of great intellect trustingly talked to each other.
There were no unspoken agendas, nobody to balance things out from the right. It was a conversation not burdened with the irritations of the supposed fair and balanced take on things we have come to suffer since the Divider has been in office while fear ruled the land.
It was a New Day for me today because the dime fully dropped.
Not that I have not noticed the differences of behavior in the Media. I realize we begin to take for granted that things are said on the air that would have "exploded" the Democratic Underground posting threads in the past..
What happened to me is that it sank into my heart.
We really are finally back in charge. We are able to do the work that needs to be done. We have the potential of GREAT leadership with unheard of support from the Senate, the House and the People. The elders, the experienced, and the wise people who have so much to offer are being heard, solicited and "hired" in great numbers. The new dawn is here.
My highlight from the interview was:
Fareed: Do you think that, since large power, once assumed, does not usually revert, Vice President Biden will step into the role of power Dick Cheney created and assume it as well ? (paraphrasing this one)
Gore: (direct quote) "I hesitate to comment on Bush and Cheney, because I have recently begun to fear that I'm losing my objectivity on them."
The exchange simply hung there. Nobody to jump in who needed to be strangled (absence of Bay Buchanan gratefully noted). Nobody to soft pedal or explain.
It was all there, powerful evidence that the winds of change are blowing hard.
I am very grateful tonight.

an economic meat grinder - to put it mildly.
The really hard work is ahead and I know that it is unpopular to say this on DU, but I pray every day for our nation and our new leaders.
Given what has been handed to them from the republicans, we will all need prayers.
I say, buckle up your football helmet.

2. Without a doubt. The helmet is in place. But so is a new and better amount of support |
|
from people that are more hardened and know a lot of what is coming ahead of time.

3. You see an economic meat grinder, I see a window of opportunity for great change |
|
If things were going swimmingly, there would be lots of inertia supporting the status quo.
From Reagan to Bush they worked to tear it down; now we have the chance to rebuild it better than before.
Not easy, but definitely doable.

4. Well, people remembered Herbert Hoover for quite awhile |
|
It is a great opportunity for us. It will not be easy to clean up a mess of this magnitude, but we finally have a chance to put things on track one at a time.
We must remind people every single day who created this mess.

5. Preparation is the key. I am saving screen shots and cartoons of the |

financial numbers and the mess we are in. It is already being called the "Obama" depression by the Limbaugh listening ilk, and I aim to shoot back at the freeper commentary that comes me way as I know it will.

I can't wait til January when Barak will take office. I am almost giddy wondering what will be the first thing he talked about in his campaign to implement. I am already very happy with the choices he has made for his cabinet nominations. He has picked good , solid experienced people that will push his plans through a Democrat controlled Senate and House. We are already seeing how Presidential he is looking and acting by taking action already. I just hope all the rumors started by news agencies trying to boost thier ratings wont keep telling lies about him not doing things he promised. We know that he wont Lie to us - He is not just like the politicians in the past.

8. Welcome ! You and I are some of the people who will be backing him |
|
in a re-discovered way of people being behind their leader.
Al Gore today said something I, too, maintain - he hopes that Pres. to be Obama will continue to stay in touch with the people with thought out and thorough speeches. Gore said people now download the good stuff, and that they are willing to be informed and carried along as participants in what is going on. By staying involved and staying informed we can have his back.
