What's your music for the Inaugural Ball at home?
You know who you are: you don't have a ticket to one of the 14 balls in DC, and you don't have a ball gown or tuxedo either. But you'll be celebrating. And so will I.

Mamas & Papas say: There'll be swingin' & swayin' & records playin & dancin' in the streets...

Hekate says: Be there or be square.

Callin' out around the world--
Are you ready for a brand new beat?
Obama's here and the time is right
For dancin' in the streets.

They're dancin' in Chicago,
Down in New Orleans,
Up in New York City.

All we need is music (sweet music),
Sweet music (sweet music).
There'll be music everywhere (everywhere);
There'll be swingin' and swayin' and records playin'
And dancin' in the streets.

Oh, it doesn't matter what you wear
Just as long as you are there.
So come on, every guy (come on) grab a girl
Everywhere around the world.
There'll be dancing---
They're dancing in the street

This is an invitation
Across the nation;
A chance for the folks to meet.
There'll be laughin', singin', and music swingin'
And dancin' in the streets.

Philadelphia, P.A. (Philadelphia, P.A.)
Baltimore and DC now (Baltimore and DC now)
Yeah, don't forget the Motor City.
(Can't forget the Motor City)
All we need is music (sweet music),
Sweet music (sweet music).
There'll be music everywhere (everywhere).
There'll be swingin' and swayin' and records playin'
And dancin' in the street, yeah.

Oh, it doesn't matter what you wear
Just as long as you are there.
So come on, every guy (come on, come on) grasp a girl
Everywhere around the world...

There'll be dancin',
Be dancin' in the streets
Philadelphia, P.A. (Philadelphia, P.A.)
Baltimore and DC now (Baltimore and DC now)
Can't forget that Motor City.
(Can't forget the Motor City)
Way down in L.A., California
(Way down in L.A., California)

"Not to mention Hafilax, Nova Scotia."
"Not to mention "
"Well, you know?" "Yes, I know."
"Manchester?" "And, oh, Amherst, Amherst."
"Alexandria?" "And Virginia, Virginia."
"Falls Church?" "Where's that?"
"oh, Boyle Heights"
"Boyle heights? Never heard of it..."

5. this
Lyrics for "Brother Can You Spare a Dime"

"They used to tell me I was building a dream, and so I followed the mob,
When there was earth to plow, or guns to bear, I was always there right on the job.
They used to tell me I was building a dream, with peace and glory ahead,
Why should I be standing in line, just waiting for bread?

Once I built a railroad, I made it run, made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad; now it's done. Brother, can you spare a dime?
Once I built a tower, up to the sun, brick, and rivet, and lime;
Once I built a tower, now it's done. Brother, can you spare a dime?

Once in khaki suits, gee we looked swell,
Full of that Yankee Doodly Dum,
Half a million boots went slogging through Hell,
And I was the kid with the drum!

Say, don't you remember, they called me Al; it was Al all the time.
Why don't you remember, I'm your pal? Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Once in khaki suits, gee we looked swell,
Full of that Yankee Doodly Dum,
Half a million boots went slogging through Hell,
And I was the kid with the drum!

Say, don't you remember, they called me Al; it was Al all the time.
Say, don't you remember, I'm your pal? Buddy, can you spare a dime?"

6. Picking a lame white cover of a soul tune to celebrate Obama?
:wtf:

7. Cass Elliot may have been white, but she was not lame. Her voice soared like an eagle...
So, what tunes do you want -- or did you drop in from the "No Inaugural Celebration" thread?

9. Anything from the WattStax soundtrack would be more appropriate
Or maybe my Vee Jay Records anthology.

I'm not denying that Cass had a decent voice. I'm just not too fond of the trend of Caucasians ripping off black musicians. (With certain notable artistic exceptions of course)
