I "had" to give up my little cat. I say "had", because I've been on dialysis for almost 22 years and my skin is useless. I continually have skin tears. Surface cat bites that wouldn't even draw blood on a normal person, always bleed. I don't care about that because it is what it is. The down side are the punctures which cause infection and when they are in my access arm, are very dangerous. Personally, I'd rather die of a cat bite than some long, drawn out illness but I have a family who loves me and wants me around for as long as possible. And so ---- I gave up my little cat and now my heart has a tear in it.
