Dana Perino, unhinged....Pt. XXVI: Like, omigod, they were just little white lies.....
from ThinkPrgress:

Perino: ‘I absolutely feel comfortable’ lying about the Bush administration’s torture record.»

Last week, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said unequivocally, “We did not torture.” This is a lie. In a wide-ranging interview with the Washington Post’s Howard Kurtz, Perino refused to retract her claim:

When a reporter asked last week about reports that Obama’s team plans to review techniques for interrogating terror suspects, Perino said that the methods were used “to protect the country from possible imminent terrorist attack. We did not torture.” Administration officials have acknowledged waterboarding suspects, and critics, including John McCain, have said that is torture.

“I absolutely feel comfortable with what I said,” Perino says now.

Perino’s comment is the latest evidence that — despite widespread expert opinion to the contrary — the Bush administration continues to insist that waterboarding is not torture.

1. Don't forget
Perino has always been kind of off the wall nutty. Only a moron like Georgie would put someone like her in her job. She is the bottom of the barrel, as is Georgie.

6. What imminent terrorist attack?
Golly, it's like a giant game of "Button, Button, Who's Got the Button?" with these people. They can't defend torture except as a "24" television show scenario, so they cite some "imminent terrorist attack." But of course, to avoid compromising "national security" (all fall down!), they can't tell us what that attack was or how it was foiled. So, if they did torture, which they didn't, they did it to Save America! Not that they couldn't protect us, but everybody was About To Die.

I'm sure that in Ms. Perino's tiny little brain, it all makes sense.

7. THE FACTS: Bush-Republicon Torture has been SYSTEMIC
Edited on Mon Nov-24-08 01:23 PM by SpiralHawk
Military Investigations Stymied By Missing Documents, Flawed Records And Failure Of Witness Recollection, Records Show

NEW YORK – The American Civil Liberties Union released Department of Defense documents today that provide further evidence that prisoner abuse in U.S. detention facilities in Iraq was systemic. The documents, obtained as part of an ongoing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, also show that Army investigations of abuse in Iraq were compromised by missing records, flawed interviews and problems with witness recollection.

"The Bush administration created a climate in which abuse was tolerated even when it wasn't expressly endorsed," said Jameel Jaffer, Director of the ACLU National Security Project. "With a new administration entering the White House, we should remember that the tone set by senior military and intelligence officials has very real implications for what takes place in U.S. detention facilities overseas. The new administration should make clear from the outset that it won't turn a blind eye to torture and abuse."

The documents released today relate to eight investigations of detainee abuse that occurred in 2003 and 2004. Charges of abuse described in the documents include food and sleep deprivation, the misuse of Tasers, sexual threats, urinating on detainees and the use of various stress positions and dogs to intimidate detainees."

8. When you take a loyalty oath to Bush it's perfectly OK to lie.

:sarcasm:

Screw the Constitution AND the American people. Her President told her to lie and she knows where her loyalty lies. Why should she feel uncomfortable?
