As I was cleaning my e-mail in box. I came across this send to me by a friend. Worth posting.

Don't conflate the US violating the establishment clause with the fact that a large number of people will want to take off their religious holiday - which is their right.

4. That all sounds fine with me |

At least the less extreme points for sure - mail delivery and courts working on holidays and sundays? Sign me up!
Senate working through the holidays? They should.
Ideally we could do this, and replace some of the holidays with generic seasonal celebrations.
Never happen though.

5. Perhaps I'd like government offices to be closed on Yom Kippur or Beltane. So be it? |

In other words, for all the rightwing religious caterwauling, our government has a pretty clear built-in Christian tilt already...

Mail IS delivered on Good Friday; it's not delivered on Sunday, which is when Easter falls; and Christmas - remember Santa Claus? - is a secular holiday, not only a religious one. Or hasn't this moron been outside his house for a century or so?
Somebody give this tool a copy of the Constitution.

8. I got it and it pissed me off. (First time I've ever responded to a post like this.) |

Yes. the many should bend to the wishes of the few in situations like this; anything less is un-American and medieval in thinking. The majority should not be able to dictate what religion everyone should be. Punishing government workers because you want prayer in school is the height of fundamentalist bullshit!

10. People have the right to observe religious holidays |
|
So be it.
People don't have the right to make their own money which trusts in Buddha, or Goddess, or anything else.
So . . . get it?
