I love the idea of progressive, Melody Barnes to head the Domestic Policy Council!

She'll coordinate many of the cabinet secretaries and head domestic policy. Here is a snip of an

essay she wrote for the Wash. Post.:

Here at home there is urgent work to do to fight the historically high -- and growing -- gap between our richest and poorest citizens. While the mean income of households on the low end of the income spectrum -- the bottom 20 percent -- is just $10,655 a year, the income of the top twenty percent of households averages almost $160,000. That's 15 times as much. At the same time, according to the latest census figures, the middle class, beset with stagnant wages and mountainous debts, is shrinking. The sad fact is that one of our most cherished values as a society, namely equality of opportunity, is fading as a reality for far too many people...

Gotta love that! Hope she means it. I think she'll be a huge asset.

2. Why, you're welcome, Uncle Joe
It seems she understands the huge gap between the "haves" and the "have-nots"; and she notices that opportunity is fading quickly for those who are middle class or lower in income. As long as she keeps these matters in mind, while making policy decisions, I think we'll do quite nicely with this progressive. :)

3. Yes, I believe she will actually connect with the American People's predicament
as opposed to just those living in ivory towers.:)

Peace to you,
Joe
