I finally found a reason to be happy that Bush stole the 2000 election |
|
After reading Colbert Watcher's thread about Gore's appointments, I saw a post that finished the sentence...
if Gore had won...
Lieberman would be president elect.
Thankfully this is not the case and Lieberman will never be the democratic nominee for president. He repulsed me when he was Gore's vp choice, but I had no idea just what a nasty scum sucking piece of garbage he was until Obama ran for president.
Joe Lieberman will leave a legacy of shame for himself in history, for any who bother to remember him.

3. He was the anti-Clinton. |
|
No charisma, no charm, uber-moralistic. Gore thought he had to run away from Clinton, and that more than anything cost him the election, I think.

8. What cost Gore the election more than anything |
|
was corruption at all levels of the Florida state government and cronyism on the US Supreme Court. Gore received at least 540,000 more votes than bu$h nationwide, and no doubt would have won Florida if all the votes had actually been counted, as evidenced by the reports by Newsweek and others that were lost in the haze of the 9-11 hysteria.

4. Gore saw victory. Joe was on the ticket to help win Florida and to convey a sense of morality |
|
to the ticket, post Clinton.
Joe was a good choice, since Gore did win Florida.

After 4, maybe 8 years of Gore prosperity, the nation would have forgotten all about Republican failures and probably would have elected one - maybe even McCain - this year.

6. I guess Bush just speeded up Liebermanism |
|
actually, I thought Lieberman was a scum sucker after Ned LaMont defeated him in the democratic primary and he ran as an independent - and a lot of democrats lost my respect when they backed him.
but, yeah, if I knew then what I know now, I would still choose Gore.

7. I understand. Yet Gore would have kept him in check and under control. |

9. I think the scale is off. |
|
I can never be happy that Bush won. Those involved permanently offset the scales of justice.
Gore-----> 2000 Election-----> Nobel Prize
Bush-----> 2000 Election-----> Possibly The Worst Presidency in History, ever, anywhere.
And, just because you're VP doesn't mean you have a guarantee at the big spot on the party ticket; just look at Cheney... then again, he got so rich off these last 8 years that being president of the greatest nation on Earth is probably small potatoes to him.
However, I must thank whatever forces were at work that set us up for the Obama presidency. Finally, people can have hope again... maybe even trust in the competency of their chosen leaders.
Corndogs.
