Okay, I'm going to say it.... |

I think the Democrats are standing up for the wrong side here... It is reported on www.talkingpointsmemo.com that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is thinking of asking for the remainder of the $700 billion dollars, just one week after saying that money would be used by Barack Obama when he came into office. It has been my belief that this was their intent all along.
If the Democrats give this money up without any "plan" and without any questions, then I do not feel they are on our side. They have betrayed the people, plain and simple. That is just my opinion. But we can only cut them so much slack until someone has to hold them accountable.
It was bad enough that they gave up $700 billion to these bankers without as much as a murmur. Then, when GM and the Big Three asked for help, they got all self-righteous and started asking for plans. That is all well and good but please don't pretend that the bankers are more on our side than the Big Three. Yeah, they suck, but if we have to choose..??
Then today, CitiGroup asks for another $20 billion on top of the $25 billion already received. If the Congress gives the rest of the money to these folks with nothing in return, then we need to do some serious re-evaluating, in my humble opinion.

1. After much observation... |

I'm willing to bet that the Dems give the money to Paulson. And they aren't on our side. I had to work over 12 hours today, but I did get spurts of news, and it was all very disconcerting. I guess I should have a little faith, but I don't think anyone in government right now knows what the fuck they are doing.

I do NOT think the Dems are on our side. I mean, I sooooo badly want Obama to not just be the lesser of two evils, and I know he is not yet president, so I still hold out some hope. However this bank bailout is looking more like a big ripoff than anything else. I mean we have no idea where the money is going, or if giving these rich bastards even MORE money will even work. This "they are too big to fail" argument is BULLSHIT - them being that big is part of the problem! Ugh the whole thing makes me sick. Hello?!?! Elected Democrats?!?! Are you planning to stand up for the people anytime soon?!?!? :grr:

without even the HINT of justice coming for them. What the hell I guess can we expect. We are a bordello with shutters and gables. All pretty tales and siding but rotten to the core.

16. While all that is true |

Obama cannot be seen to truly call a shot yet, or he risks evaporating all his political capital, before he is even pres. This was the aim of the right, when they question all his change mantle. With regards to his cabinet picks. They wanted him to get ludicrous john Bolton type partisan lefties. And then brand him an extremist. I'm afraid that legal action, and retroactive reactionary regulation, fueled by just the zeal you are showing,is our payday. Not a very grand one. But one, none the less. Working on Obama constantly with body blows, in support of publically financed campaigns. THAT, would be a great achievement. To battle against the winners that Paulson has chosen, that will be lifelong hard right republicans. Paulson will be sugar daddy, and Obama will be scrooge. This will become intolerable. Pub. Fin. Campaigns, AREEEEEEEEEEEEE the answer. And Obama is the best candidate to achieve this, of any candidate ever. Because of his Lobbyistless funding. We are screwed. This is true. But we have the capability to get screwed less than in any time in recent history. It will take work though. We need a movement. I am busy. Anyone, ANYONE!
