To ILLINOIS posters: When are they gonna bust Drew Peterson? |
|
I heard on Nancy Grace's show a couple of nights ago that there is a new law in Illinois that makes Stacy Peterson's remarks to her minister admissible in court. (re: Drew telling Stacy he killed wife #3) His arrest was supposed to be imminent.
Are you hearing anything about this in Illinois?

5. He *is* a piece of something, but "work" wasn't what I was thinking. |

2. Sounds like Stacy knew he would get away with it |
|
And even though she told family/friends that if she was ever killed/missing that Drew would be responsible, that's not enough to go on. The guy is as guilty as the day is long, but he's also pretty clever. I think he knew enough about what investigators would look for to dispose of all evidence. I hope they do find something, but with each day the likelihood is less. I just keep hoping he will hang himself with his own disgusting ego.

4. You're right - his law enforcement background came in handy for him... |
|
I'll bet there are a bunch of cops in Bolingbrook who wish they'd looked into the death of wife #3 a lot more carefully.
As creepy as this guy is, his thinking is pretty fascinating ~ the case could make a good film.

6. Lock that piece of shit up for life! |
|
I seethe every time I see that miserable fucker on television. Always spouting off his bullshit line about how he thinks that she ran away. Or working with shock jocks to get him laid. Every time I think that POS can't get any lower, he proves me wrong. I hope that asshole is fearing for his life right now.

8. He even wants a divorce, since she "abandoned" him... |
|
It's amazing that there are still women who will go out with him ~ he'll probably marry wife #5 after his divorce.

7. Despite the Bush administration's best efforts |
|
It still requires some evidence to arrest and try someone. The fact that no body has been found makes it tougher on the prosecution, as well. Nancy Grace and her Flaming Nostrils of Justice know this, but that doesn't stop her from spouting the most idiotic gibberish on teevee.
Drew Peterson reminds me a great deal of Oregon's own Ward Weaver.

10. Is that story, in and of itself, sufficient to convict? |
|
Because if it's merely corroborative, or confirms some people's suspicions without producing any further tangible evidence, the change in the law doesn't matter much. It is one thing to know something in your heart; it is a decidedly different thing to prove it in a court of law.
The good news is that there's no statute of limitations on murder. Should Stacy Peterson actually be dead, and if it was Drew Peterson who did it, I don't envy his sleep patterns. As the old saying goes, in every crime, there's 50 ways to fuck up. If a criminal thinks of 25 of them, he's a genius. Drew Peterson doesn't impress me as a genius.

13. I think the arrest has to do with wife #3... |
|
If Drew's confession to Stacy (as told by the minister) now counts, it would be added to the medical reports about the condition of the "drowned" woman's body.

..as to your question...not enough evidence to charge him yet...hearsay conversations heard by a third party admissable in court? Not a good idea in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong, I think this guy is as guilty as sin, but there needs to be evidence to convict.
