How can any sane human being not hate conservatives?
They haven’t been screwing us for just eight years. They’ve been screwing us since long before Saint Ronnie took office in January, 1981. Miserable specimens of humanity who call themselves conservative Republicans have, for at least 80 years, been on the “fuck-human-beings” side of every issue that any sane person could name.

Today, they have run America into the ground. They’ve destroyed our economy, our jobs, our military, our security and our belief in the good that government can do.

Now that we once again look forward to help from the government -- in the person of President-elect Barack Obama (Jeeez, I never get tired of saying that) -- conservatives are warning us about the disaster he’s going to create.

Disaster??? Disaster??? We are currently in the greatest disaster since the Great Depression of the 1930s. And, it was once again brought on by the excesses of an ignorant Republican president backed by extreme wealth and greed.

As much as I hate the emotion we call “hatred,” I can’t help but hate those who brought us to our current state of national and international disaster. And if you’re in a forgiving mood, keep in mind that these conservative bastards haven’t gone away. They never will.

1. It's called "Righteous Anger."
It's what Jesus felt toward the money-changers on the Temple steps.

2. Hate?
Let's get past "hating" people with misbegotten concepts of "conservatism." The people you're talking about aren't true conservatives, and their stances would make real conservatives faint.

But, hate?

Please. Yank it back a little. We don't need more hate in this world.

3. Ah. The monthly "You Should Hate All Conservatives" thread.
I do enjoy them so. Lots of vitriol, blanket insults, mindless generalities.

You do recognize that the Free Republic runs parallel threads about hating liberals...

10. The difference is that we're right and they're wrong.
Unless you happen to think that the past 8 years have gone swimmingly?

17. The difference with the freepers
is that they stuff they hate us for is all made up -- they invent crap and then "hate" us for it. Most of what they accuse us of doing or wanting to do just isn't true.

As the basis for our disgust with the so-called conservatives, we have a looted treasury, a crumbling infrastructure, millions of hungry people, tens of millions with no health care, and hundreds of thousands of dead bodies.

That's the difference.

We've had some very interesting discussions. Not to mention, outside of politics, we have a lot of fun.

I try not to hate. It's bad karma.

6. I agree with Tangerine LaBamBa, the corrupted ones in power
aren't truly conservative but they use hatred as fuel to divide and conquer the American People.

The corrupted ones have no choice but use offense as they have no defense for their actions.

I believe the key to success is to remain united in spite of the emotional, Machiavellian, tornadic winds trying to rip us apart, by remembering your humanity and continually walking in other's shoes, whether you like them or not.

8. As I said in the OP, I hate the emotion of hatred.
Edited on Tue Nov-25-08 05:38 PM by Cyrano
I don't sit around wallowing in hatred. I have spent most of my life trying to understand the "other guy's" point of view.

But we are not really talking about "the other (sane) guy." We're talking about people who still believe in "leaders" who have committed war crimes, condoned torture, said "fuck you" to the jobs of millions of Americans, told the other countries of the world that their opinions don't matter, and have shredded the Constitution of the United States of America.

At what point does a scowl of disapproval end and righteous hatred begin?

"conservatives" seems to be a broad category of political thought.

I try to separate the people many of whom for various reasons are incapable of knowing better from those who do.

My own personal belief is, that in the age of consolidated one way communication ie; radio, and television, many of these people have in fact been brainwashed.

They're simply not given all the truth or they're fed outright lies and if you've been successfully brainwashed, you don't know you're brainwashed.

13. You're right, Uncle Joe, about not knowing if you've been brainwashed.
My own reference point here is both versions of the film "The Manchurian Candidate."

Not knowing that you've been brainwashed doesn't make you any less dangerous.

but it might mitigate to some degree feelings of hatred toward that subject.

18. Since Reagan? Try since the beginning of time. I'm thinking of the Good Samaritan.
And it's not just confined to Republicans, nor even conservatives. Remember, many people walked past that man in need before someone stopped and helped.

Whether you're an atheist or not, we are the modern day Christians. We are trying to bring the human race together. To bring caring and helping.

IF this were a perfect world, then the conservative view might work. People would have access to everything they need. And they actually could pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. It is not a perfect world. People are sick, poor, and in need of help from others. When you see someone in need, you can't just walk by.

19. The problem is that "conservatives" have not been conservative.
They do not want to conserve the environment, the economy, the future or very much of anything I can think of (Wait a minute - they want to conserve the zygote, and the embryo, but not the human being.)

20. Mark Shields said it best.
"Conservatives are people who agree with liberal policies twenty years after they are enacted."

Conservatives are now and always have been wrong on nearly every important issue that America has ever faced. The list of things about which they have been wrong is too long to print. It's frustrating that people seem unable to add 2 and 2 and figure out that they should not vote for conservatives.

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.

22. I'm with you 100% too
And I think my outrage is justifiable. What's the adage? If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention. It's true.

But it's also true, as someone pointed out above, that not all conservatives are neocons, but most of them lack the degree of compassion and empathy that we libs have.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Cyrano.

30. Label wars, another front of the class war.
Democrat, Republik, conservative, liberal, neo-con, progressive, minority, majority, hyphenated-American, pro-life, pro-choice, hawk, dove, and on and on and on.

All distractions from the only distinction that matters.
