"Isn't it great that we live in a country where we can disagree"
Is anyone else sick of hearing this meme? Is this repeated by some douche like Hannity or something?

I keep running into RW'ers who are either uninformed, or most commonly underinformed, who use that phrase when I win a point.

I personally think that one of the greatest threats to dealing with our challenges as a nation is the arrogance and ignorance of people who think that Murka is the only country with tap water and a Democracy.

But anyways, do any of you know where this comes from? It's always phrased the same way and it's always by wingers. I would love to ask them if they watch that particular gasbag.

2. Maybe Bush and Cheney didn't get the memo
Given the fact that you had to sign "loyalty oaths" to attend their events during the 2004 campaign.

5. Disagreeing is fine.
Not accepting the facts is not.

7. Odd; I don't recall much disagreement being brooked in 2002 and 2003
Commander Bunnypants was getting his war hard-on working, and anyone who disagreed was variously naïve or a traitor or a pussy of the first water. In fact, by tacit agreement, none of the major media outlets would allow dissenting voices to be aired unless they were overwhelmed by warmongers at least three to one.

Now we’re going back to that “free to disagree” thing, are we? All the repressive actions of the Bush administration are stuffed back into the bottle, and we don’t lock up dissenters without charge or trial anymore? Gee, how generous and large a spirit, heretofore unsuspected, lives on the right wing now that they’re such a marginalized and minority voice!

9. Actually I remember people pissing me off with that phrase back then as well
It sums up so much arrogance and ignorance in just a short little sentence.

12. Oh but that's just those fine jeebus luvin folks trying to help you not disagree with them
about who you are and who you should be. It's perfectly ok when it's them doing it to you.
