I was travelling to Colaba for a 10 pm shoot when my train stopped at Masjid, one station before the CST station. Initially, I didn't realise what was happening; I thought it was a regular signal problem. It was only a little later when I realised that no trains were moving; people started jumping out of the compartment and the train on the opposite platform also stuck.
The station was packed with people running helter skelter, trying to figure out what had happened. Just then, I got a call from the person I was supposed to shoot with, telling me that the entire area around Colaba and CST was cordoned off. The person said that he had heard gunshots at Colaba. Friends and family called to inform me about the firing and explosions.
There was total chaos all around but I had to reach home. I managed to get out of the station and saw people walking in hordes, trying to find a vehicle to ferry them home. There were no taxis available. I finally walked to the main road and saw people running around in panic.
I checked with the policemen standing there but they were equally clueless. People were frantically asking taxi drivers to take them home but most of the cabs refused. Several people stopped private vehicles and tempos asking for a lift. I waited for almost an hour trying to get a taxi. Then I saw a taxi with two women passengers and I requested them to give me a lift to Sion.
